Recently, one of the most highly-anticipated 50th-anniversary items — a $120 “EARidescent” spirit jersey [above in front of Cinderella Castle] with pearlescent accents and “Walt Disney World” splashed across the back — released at WDW and on shopDisney.com.
But, it seems that the shopDisney version is not what consumers were expecting. TikTok user Malinda took to the social media platform to issue a “shopDisney warning” to her followers and fellow Disney fans.
“So, my friend ordered this jersey and it arrived already and it’s wrong. She ordered the Walt Disney World version. As you can see, that’s clearly not sequins and all it says is ‘Disney’. And, the front of the jersey isn’t even the Walt Disney World version, it’s the Disneyland version.Â
He [the friend] said he spent an hour on the phone with shopDisney trying to explain the situation and the SKUs are matching, so they’re telling him that he got the right jersey.”
TikTokers in the comments were irate, with some noting that the jersey in the video looked like a “fake” or “low quality” version of the real thing. Others were frustrated with the apparent lack of customer service from shopDisney when it was seemingly very clear that the shopper did not receive the Walt Disney World Resort spirit jersey he ordered.
It is important to note that merchandise mix-ups and errors do happen in all retail sectors, but it is important for fans to be aware that this did happen in case it becomes a more widespread issue with this particular shirt.
Take flight to The Most Magical Place on Earth in this commemorative Spirit Jersey with sparkling, sequined Walt Disney World logo across the back shoulder and rows of sequined stripes on midsection and sleeves, plus puffy Walt Disney World 50 logo on chest.
