Unfortunately for Disney World Guests hoping to ride Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland attraction today, it experienced two back-to-back temporary closures.

Then, however, just about half an hour later, the Disney World water ride closed again:

Although the second temporary closure lasted just 20 minutes, there were clearly ongoing issues with Splash Mountain today.

It is important to remember that Walt Disney World Resort Cast Members do everything they can to keep rides and attractions operational all day, every day at all four theme parks. However, from time to time unexpected interruptions do occur. If you are at Disney World, the My Disney Experience App will provide you with the most up-to-date ride closure details and wait times.

At the time of publication, the wait to ride Splash Mountain is 65 minutes — a typical summer wait time for the log flume!

It is worth noting that today’s closures were not related to the upcoming Princess and the Frog (2009) retheme of Splash Mountain at both Disney World and Disneyland Resort’s Disneyland Park. Dates for the addition of Princess Tiana and friends have not been officially announced.

Disney officially describes Splash Mountain as:

Gently drift through a colorful Southern bayou along with happy-go-lucky Br’er Rabbit as he looks for his “laughing place.” But be warned: Br’er Bear and Br’er Fox are in hot pursuit of this wayward hare.

Glide by over 100 adorable Audio-Animatronics geese, frogs, raccoons, possums, bees, alligators and other down-home critters as they sing classic Disney ditties, including “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” and “Ev’rybody’s Got a Laughing Place.”

Then hang on to your hats—this delightful musical cruise ends in an exciting 5-story splashdown into a thorny Briar Patch!
