Summer is in full swing at Walt Disney World Resort, and Park hours reflect the longer days! Today, for instance, Magic Kingdom Park is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., giving Guests plenty of time to enjoy the magic. One fan-favorite ride, however, experienced a temporary closure just minutes after Park opening. Splash Mountain seemingly stopped operating at 8:02 a.m. EST and has not reopened as of the time of publication.
Twitter account WDW Stats confirmed the closure, noting:
Splash Mountain has been temporarily interrupted. On average, an interruption takes 88 minutes.

It is important to note that, although Disney Parks Cast Members do everything they can to keep rides operational all day long, sometimes unexpected temporary closures do occur — these can be caused by mechanical issues or general maintenance needs.
However, rest assured that Disney World officials will get Splash Mountain back up and running as soon as possible today. The reason for this morning’s closure is not known.
If you are at Walt Disney World Resort today, check the My Disney Experience app for the latest information about ride and attraction availability at all four Disney World Parks — EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
It is important to note that this closure does not have anything to do with Splash Mountain’s upcoming retheme, which will feature characters and scenes from The Princess and the Frog (2009). Disney has not yet announced when the rides at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort will shut down for Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, and their friends to be added!
More on Splash Mountain
Disney officially describes the Splash Mountain log flume as:
Gently drift through a colorful Southern bayou along with happy-go-lucky Br’er Rabbit as he looks for his “laughing place.” But be warned: Br’er Bear and Br’er Fox are in hot pursuit of this wayward hare.
Glide by over 100 adorable Audio-Animatronics geese, frogs, raccoons, possums, bees, alligators and other down-home critters as they sing classic Disney ditties, including “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” and “Ev’rybody’s Got a Laughing Place.”
Then hang on to your hats—this delightful musical cruise ends in an exciting 5-story splashdown into a thorny Briar Patch!
