When Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced The Mandalorian spinoff Ahsoka during the 2020 Disney Investor Day event, few details about the upcoming series were given. All we know for sure is that Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni will helm the show, and Rosario Dawson will reprise her role as the live-action version of Ahsoka Tano.
Star Wars: Ahsoka is looking to cast Barriss Offee. She is listed as a lead character in her 20-30 and they are looking to cast an Asian woman for the role. In The Clone Wars, Barriss Offee was voiced by Meredith Salenger and played by Nalini Krishan in Attack Of The Clones.
Barriss Offee is a Mirialan and was a Jedi Padawan along with Ahsoka Tano during the Clone War before graduating to Jedi Knight. She trained under the Jedi Master Luminara and bonded with Ahsoka during the second battle of Geonosis where the two Padawans nearly lost their lives fighting against the Separatists.
Ahsoka also saved Barriss’s’ life, further bonding the two strong female characters. Both Ahsoka and Barriss eventually became disillusioned with the ways of the Jedi Order. Unlike Ahsoka, who simply walked away from life as a Jedi to forge her own path, however, Barriss orchestrated a bombing of the Jedi Temple — then stabbed Ahsoka in the back by allowing her to take the blame.
Although nothing has been officially confirmed, Ahsoka is also presumed to feature the live-action debuts of Star Wars Rebels villain Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ahsoka’s fellow Jedi, Ghost ship crew member Ezra Bridger. Live-action Aladdin star Mena Massoud has been teasing that he will play Bridger, but no official confirmation has been issued.
