If you have never seen the original film — and you really should — here is the official Disney synopsis:

For princess-to-be Giselle, life is a fairy tale — until she’s banished from the animated land of Andalasia and thrust into the very unmagical, live-action world of modern-day Manhattan. When a cynical, no-nonsense divorce lawyer comes to her aid, little does he realize that this joyful, wide-eyed innocent is about to enchant him.

The Enchanted sequel was talked about as far back as 2010, but nothing seemed to fully move forward until pre-production was announced in 2020. According to Disney Wiki Fandom, the story of Disenchanted will take place a decade after the original film. Disney Wiki Fandom writes:

The story is set ten years after EnchantedGiselleRobert and Morgan have since moved from New York to the suburbs. When Giselle begins to question her happily ever after, she wishes her life was more like a perfect fairytale. However, her wish turns both her real life and her animated home of Andalasia upside down.

There is currently no word on what characters — be they heroes or villains — the three actresses will play.

Disenchanted will be directed by Adam Shankman (Glee), with screenplay credit being given to Jessie Nelson (Little Voice), J. David Stem (Daddy Day Camp), and David N. Weiss (Daddy Day Camp). Stem and Weiss have worked together on numerous projects in the past, including Shrek 2, Are We There Yet, and Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius.
