Following the Legacy Passholder preview days earlier this week, The Walt Disney Company officially opened its first Star Wars themed store outside of a theme park yesterday, February 19, 2020.

The Star Wars Trading Post is located at Disneyland Resort’s Downtown Disney District and is giving Guests a taste of a galaxy far, far away, even while Batuu remains officially closed to the public in California.

Now, Star Wars fans who have already gotten to experience the new shop — designed to look like a Rebel base in the former Rainforest Cafe building — have taken to social media to share their thoughts.

Here, we take a look at the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the Star Wars Trading Post!

Sasaki Time shared a video of his favorite Mandalorian merchandise from the new retail out:

As adorable as this Baby Yoda toy is, the store has something even better for fans of The Mandalorian — an exact replica of Grogu’s pod stroller, made by the artist who crafted the prop that has been used in both seasons of the hit Star Wars series!

This was our favorite Mandalorian ‘Easter Egg’ when we visited the Trading Post, but there are, of course, plenty of great hidden gems. The Imagineering team behind the new Star Wars store made sure to include thematic elements that will delight all Star Wars fans, whether they prefer live-action shows, animated series, the original trilogy, or the sequel trilogy.

Moving on to other available merchandise, the Star Wars Fandom Report was most excited about the fact that Trading Post Guests can construct Legacy Lightsabers! While the experience isn’t as immersive as it is at Savi’s Workshop at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, this is an incredibly exciting addition to the Downtown Disney District.

They posted:

Who loves lightsabers! So cool that they are selling the Ahsoka Tano lightsabers again inside the Star Wars Trading Post.

Jenmarie was ecstatic about her time at the Trading Post. She wrote:

Honestly, the new Star Wars Trading Post is awesome! It’s like a little piece of Batuu made its way to Downtown Disney! I’ll be sharing a blog post very soon with lots of photos, information, prices, etc. Stay tuned!

Twitter user, Mike M., enjoyed the biggest piece of Star Wars memorabilia at the new store — Rey’s speeder! Rey (Daisy Ridley) rides the speeder on Jakku in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015), Disney’s first Star Wars movie.

He wrote:

So cool getting to see Rey’s speeder outside the new Star Wars Trading Post today at Downtown Disney.

Sara shared several merchandise photos, including a Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Blackspire Outpost blanket and plush Ahsoka Tano and Porg toys. She said:

Got to check out the new Star Wars Trading Post at Downtown Disney today!

David Vaughn gave a shoutout to a Star Wars Trading Post Cast Member who has already been spreading magic to Guests. He wrote:

John T from the new Star Wars Trading Post was incredible! Kind, courteous, and perfectly helpful, he showed me some awesome merch that I ended up buying. John embodies the exact friendly nature when I think “Disney Cast Member”. Thanks, John!

Disney officially describes Disneyland Resort’s Star Wars Trading Post as:

Spot Rey’s iconic speeder outside the entrance to this new shop, inspired by the look and feel of a hidden jungle Resistance base. Once inside, you’ll uncover an exciting variety of authentic Star Wars merchandise—from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge gear to novelties inspired by The Mandalorian.

At this time, there are no confirmed plans to bring a similar retail location to Walt Disney World Resort’s Disney Springs shopping and dining area. There is a Star Wars merchandise location at Disney Springs called the Star Wars Galactic Outpost, though the store isn’t themed like the Downtown Disney location is. Guests can, however, visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida.

In Anaheim, both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park remain temporarily closed.
