As Walt Disney World Resort has progressed through its phased reopening process so far — the Disney property reopened to Guests in mid-July — new experiences have been added on a regular basis.

During the initial reopening, for instance, the only way to see beloved Disney Parks characters was either via character cavalcades or from afar such as at the Main Street Train Station or at the Crystal Palace balcony in Magic Kingdom or over at EPCOT, characters were seen frolicking throughout the fields.
Disney World officials have continuously tested new socially distanced character experiences which are similar to those that are already in-use at Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disney Resort. For example, Disney recently added Cinderella, who has appeared to greet Guests from a safe distance at Magic Kingdom park and, now, EPCOT’s World Showcase is bringing in its very own Frozen character greeting experience.
Anna and Elsa have both been spotted outside their Royal Sommerhus in the Norway pavilion over the past couple of days. Since this meet and greet is so new amid the pandemic, it’s been hard to snag photos of the two Disney Queens. We do, however, have this image of a stunning Queen Anna to share:
Even Baby Yoda got in on the action and couldn’t resist a selfie with Elsa ahead of The Mandalorian Season 2, which hits Disney+ on October 30 and is already in development for Season 3!
Character selfie spots are an exciting new addition to the currently limited Disney World experience. Only time will tell if additional experiences are added to the Walt Disney World Resort but we will continue to update you as we get new information.
Disney has also been testing other experiences that are currently suspended, including fireworks for the upcoming EPCOT HarmonioUS nighttime spectacular. An official opening date for the show has not been announced, but this goes to show that the Disney World experience certainly won’t be limited forever.
Know Before You Go
If you have plans to visit Walt Disney World Resort in the near future, remember there are still numerous health and safety measures in-place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 — this includes an updated face mask policy. According to the theme park resort’s official website:
Upon reopening, theme parks, Disney Resort hotels, restaurants, attractions, experiences and other offerings may be modified and will be limited in capacity and subject to limited availability or closure, based on direction from health experts and government officials to promote physical distancing.
Additionally, attractions, experiences (such as shows, parades and fireworks), services and amenities may have limited availability or may remain closed. We will provide more information as it becomes available. We reserve the right to cancel any reservations, admission media or purchases and provide applicable refunds.
