Shanghai Disneyland has recommenced character meet and greets, though in a modified way.

Instagram user @dischapoppy shared some pictures of the modified experience at Shanghai Disneyland’s Storybook Court on her story earlier today, explaining Guests will stand in a yellow box and take a selfie with the characters with their phone. There is no photographer on hand to take pictures for Guests.

This experience was so popular  that Discha tells her Instagram followers that Shanghai Disneyland was forced to close the line.

As you can see, these modified character meet and greets are still at a distance and Guests still have to wear their masks. Little is still known about how long a person can stand in the box and interact with the princesses or other Disney characters, but they seem to be moving through the queue quickly.

Character meet and greets have been suspended at Magic Kingdom Park and the rest of the Walt Disney World Resort since its reopening in Mid-July. While Guests can still see their favorite Disney characters throughout the parks, they are either in small cavalcades or boat parades, or they are spotted in one particular area where you can take a socially-distanced selfie with them.

But Shanghai’s attempt at character interactions seems simply like a more rigid version of what Walt Disney World is doing, it also appears to allow for a more personal experience between Guests and their favorite princess.

The Walt Disney World Resort has been following Shanghai Disney Resort’s lead since the extended closures came to an end. So, it will be interesting to see if we will see something similar recommence at the Magic Kingdom, for example, or even Disneyland once it reopens.
