With Walt Disney World only weeks away from its phased reopening of its Resorts and theme parks, it is leaving many questioning — What will remain the same and what will be different?
We know that Walt Disney World Resort has already announced the suspension of a few systems that Guests typically utilize when visiting the theme parks, including the FastPass+ service and Extra Magic Hours.
Well now, it looks as though Disney World is encouraging guests with upcoming vacations to utilize online check in upon arriving at the resort to help with social distancing.
When opening up My Disney Experience, Inside the Magic received this pop up regarding their upcoming reservation.
If you are unfamiliar with Disney’s online check-in service, the official description reads:
The Online Check-in service is a convenient option that starts your check-in process online. As a component of the Direct-to-Room service, Online Check-in can help Disney Resort hotel Guests reduce registration time and simplify their arrival—while still enjoying a magical Disney welcome.
When you use the Direct-to-Room service, you provide us in advance of your arrival with information typically collected during a traditional check-in at the Front Desk. On arrival day, you’ll receive notifications on your mobile device (based on communication preferences you have opted into) with real-time updates, including when your room is ready and what your room number is. When your room is ready, use the Resort hotel map in the app to find your room. Then unlock your door with your MagicBand, or use the Unlock Door feature on the app.
Begin your check-in to go directly to your room by linking your Disney Resort hotel reservation to your Disney Account. Once linked, view your reservation on the “My Plans” page and select “Start Check-in.” Or view your reservation from the “My Plans” screen in the My Disney Experience app.
By utilizing online check in, it allows guests to take advantage of the direct to room service, which helps guests simplify their arrival while still enjoying the magical Disney arrival we all know and love.
And if you are unfamiliar with direct to room service, Disney World explains how this service works as well.
Disney World even touches upon who is eligible to utilize direct to room service as well as what happens if guests arrive prior to their resort room being ready.
Guests with disabilities are able to utilize direct to room service as well, in which Disney World provides full details.
