If you’ve been to Walt Disney World Resort since the ‘My Disney Experience’ app launched in 2013, you know how essential the Disney World app is to an enjoyable resort experience.

When all Disney Park experiences are available, it tracks your Disney Dining Plan, keeps track of Disney FastPass+ reservations, and serves as your ticket.

When Disney World begins its phased reopening on July 11, My Disney Experience will be even more crucial than ever before, even though some park experiences will not be open. Even though FastPass services will not be available right now, the app will still serve as your Swiss Army Knife when it comes to enjoying your Disney World vacation.

From managing your resort reservation to navigating with virtual theme park maps to using the contactless virtual room key each day when you return to your hotel, you won’t be able to get by without ‘My Disney Experience.’

In a recent website update, Disney announced some exciting news about changes to the Disney World app.

Before the Orlando theme park’s reopening date, a Virtual Chat With a Resort Cast Member feature will be added to the My Disney Experience mobile app.

The official Disney description states:

“Beginning June 22, you can chat with a Resort Cast Member via the My Disney Experience app for assistance during your stay. This new feature will offer convenient support nearly anytime—so there’s no need to visit the Lobby or stand in line.”

This is great news for Disney World Guests for a number of reasons. Not only does it encourage social distancing and contactless interaction with Cast Members, but it will save time since onsite Disney resort hotels are bound to be dealing with more than the typical number of Guest issues right after WDW reopens.

To ensure that you can take full advantage of all of My Disney Experience’s latest features, Disney encourages Guests to arrive for their vacations with the most up-to-date version of the app already downloaded on their smartphones.

The Walt Disney World website states:

“Also, it’s highly recommended to have:

  • The latest version of the My Disney Experience app on your mobile device, with location services and notifications enabled
  • Cashless or contactless forms of payment, including MagicBands, which Disney Resort hotel Guests can use to charge purchases to their Disney Resort hotel folio”
