With Walt Disney World Resort’s phased reopening set to start in mid-July, Disney officials have recently made numerous website updates to reflect the Orlando theme park resort’s latest policies.
One change is the fact that Disney’s flexible cancellation policy has now been extended through October 3, 2020.
The WDW website update reads:
“Rooms and Packages
At this time, we are temporarily pausing Disney Resort hotel reservations so we can focus on Guests with existing reservations (Disney Vacation Club Members can still make new reservations). We will resume new hotel reservations after that period of time.To provide additional flexibility, we are waiving Disney-imposed change and cancellation fees up to the date of check-in for reservations with arrivals through October 3, 2020. If Guests need further assistance, they can reach us at the Disney Reservation Center through our online chat feature or by calling our reservation line.Â
If no action is taken for impacted stays, Disney will automatically cancel your reservation within 7 days of the original check-in date and process any refund due to the original form of payment. Please note that cancellation fees imposed by third-party suppliers, including airlines and rental cars, as well as non-refundable products like travel protection plans, are deducted from refundable amounts for Walt Disney Travel Company packages.Â
If you did not book through Disney directly, please contact your travel professional.”Â
Previously, Disney World’s flexible cancellation policy was scheduled through June 30, 2020, so this is a significant extension for Guests.
As per Disney’s official update, the best way to learn more about rescheduling, cancelling, or altering a Disney World vacation is to contact a Cast Member via virtual chat or by calling 1-407-W-DISNEY (1-407-939-4357).
