Visiting the Disney Store in Times Square is a must-do for any Disney fan heading to New York City. This massive Disney merchandise hot spot in the heart of times square features two floors with enhanced decorations around the store (that you won’t find in your local mall) and some of the best assortments of products we’ve seen outside the parks.
The store has a huge collection of New York-specific Disney merchandise which is largely centered around this adorable photo opp of Minnie Mouse as the Statue of Liberty near the front of the store. If you’re hoping to pick up some “I ❤️ NY” souvenirs while you’re in the city, you can find plenty of Disney-inspired pieces with the design ranging from clothing items (for adults, children, and toddlers), to plush, coffee mugs, and more.
For NY-specific clothing, the store currently has lots of long sleeve options for the winter season along with a series of t-shirts and accessories. The above shirt is a lightweight cotton blend priced at $39.95.
The plush shown above are specific to the Times Square Disney Store location and are priced at $18.95. For more plush, head upstairs where you’ll find an entire alcove devoted to plush that includes a wide range of Disney and Pixar characters.
The NY collection also includes travel mugs, notebooks, and sports merchandise, and some of these items are even available on the shopDisney website (just search “New York” to see which pieces you can order online).
The Times Square location is also home to a number of Disney parks items that you do not typically see in your standard mall Disney Store. On a quick stroll around the first level, we spotted some Walt Disney World-branded long-sleeve tees, a number of Disney parks fanny packs, and even ear headbands, including the Briar Rose Gold ears and the original Rose Gold ears (which are no longer sold in the parks).
The store also stocks the character print leggings (available online and in various stores around Disneyland and the Walt Disney World Resort as well) with some matching tops and accessories.
While some Disney Parks items do occasionally make their way into Disney Stores, the Times Square store has a sweeter reason to visit this location specifically- there is an entire wall of Disney Parks snacks! If you’re in the north east and missing some Minnie’s Bake Shop snacks, Mickey Rice Krispie Treats, or snacks like Mickey-shaped chocolate covered pretzels, this is the place to stop while touring New York.
To get upstairs head over to the store’s escalator that brings guests up a Tangled-themed stairwell complete with music from the film and floating lanterns. The Disney Princess vibes continue upstairs with a castle and photo op area along with racks of Disney princess costumes. (And with Frozen 2 coming out soon, you’ll find plenty of Frozen merchandise up here.)
The children’s clothing section is loaded with Disney Princess merchandise and features lots of Pixar and Marvel items too, so if you are in the city doing some holiday shopping you can likely check lots of names off your list just while browsing the Disney Store.
This location also stocks plenty of Oh My Disney and Cakeworthy licensed merchandise- We even spotted a couple of this year’s hugely popular Hocus Pocus flannels. The Hocus Pocus collection sold out almost immediately when it launched over the summer, so if you were hoping to snag one of these flannels you may want to get over to Times Square asap!
In this same section we found Cakeworthy tees and dresses, and an assortment of Oh My Disney and Disney Studios notebooks. Judging by the remaining sizes and variety of the products here it looks like this section gets restocked with new merchandise often so even if you live nearby and visit the store regularly it’s still worth the stop.
With Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker coming to theaters everywhere on December 20, the store is also loaded with merchandise inspired by the film. A full-size Sith Trooper directs guests to the Star Wars area of the store, and once there guests can discover iconic character toys and clothing for children and adults.
One of the most popular pieces of clothing found on the Star Wars racks is the new spirit jersey, perfect for a winter visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge or for showing your Disney style while exploring New York.
Of course, the store is all decked out for the holidays right now and you can find lots of holiday treats (from the theme parks!) along with character ornaments pajamas for all ages, and more. (If you’re opting to give a Disney gift card this holiday season, the winter designs are available at the registers.)
The new light-up holiday sweaters ($49.95) are also available in the Times Square store along with stockings, light up necklaces, and plenty of holiday mugs and home decor. These new sweaters really do have a design for every member of the family and would be adorable to wear at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or to pose in for Christmas card photos.
Whether you’re local to NY or you’re planning a visit soon, this is one Disney Store fans need to check out. The Disney Magic departs from New York pretty regularly, so if you happen to be spending the night or a couple of days in the city before your cruise departs you may want to stop by and pick up some new tees or sweaters for your trip!
And if you need an excuse to head to the Big Apple and check out Times Square, reach out to Academy Travel.
