From Toy Story Mania to Cars Land: Disneyland poster postcards wrap up five years of upgrades in media invitation

Disneyland Resort plans to cap off its impressive five-year, $1 billion+ Disney California Adventure upgrade project in mid-June with a grand press event celebrating all of the new attractions and other achievements completed throughout the Anaheim resort.

An inventive reminder of just how much has been accomplished during this historic time has been sent as an invitation to select media outlets, Inside the Magic included, for the event scheduled for June 13-15, 2012. Though these events will be closed to the public, including the entirety of Disney California Adventure on June 14, we’ll certainly be there to offer an inside look at it all, beginning here with the invitation itself.

Summarizing all of the new magic added to the Disneyland Resort since 2007, the special event invitation came as a fold-out set of postcards, each featuring a different attraction poster artistically representing a ride or other source of entertainment that has recently made its debut.

One of the most highly-anticipated new areas to open at Disney California Adventure in June is Cars Land, which Disney used as the overall theme for the invitation mailing, along with their running tag line “Let the Memories Begin.”

(Press registration instructions have been blurred in these photos as those details are obviously intended only for invited media.)

The notion that Disneyland Resort has opted to use postcards to represent the completion of the large-scale renovation is rather appropriate considering that it is the kitschy postcard-themed entrance to Disney California Adventure that has been made over into Buena Vista Street, also debuting on June 15.

The flip book of sorts fans out into 18 perforated postcards, some with familiar attraction poster artwork and others with new imagery. The attractions are organized inside chronologically from those opening soon all the way back to the beginning of the 5-year resort-wide project with the debut of the Pixar Play Parade (returning this summer) and the ever-popular Toy Story Midway Mania ride, the first phase of the larger Paradise Pier makeover.

In order, the attraction poster postcards are: Radiator Springs Racers, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, Luigi’s Flying Tires, Carthay Circle Theatre, Red Car Trolley, Mad T Party, The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, Mickey’s Soundsational Parade, Goofy’s Sky School, Disneyland Hotel pool, World of Color, Silly Symphony Swings, Magical fireworks show, Mickey’s Fun Wheel, Toy Story Midway Mania, and Pixar Play Parade. (And short of those last few, you’ll find years of our coverage of each of these topics by clicking on the links.)

Flip through all the stylish artwork via the photos of the invitation below, which we have gladly accepted, planning on traveling to the Disneyland Resort to offer live and in-depth coverage of all of the special festivities taking place June 13 – 15, 2012, including the grand openings of Cars Land, Buena Vista Street, the Carthay Circle Theatre Restaurant, and much more. So be sure to follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, subscribe to our YouTube channel, and return back here to InsideTheMagic.net next month for a comprehensive look at the completion of some of the most exciting years in Disneyland history.

And for anyone wanting to get your hands on these postcards, I’m told while the postcards were created exclusively for these media invitations, Disneyland Resort will be offering some of the same poster art for sale as greeting cards, much as they already did during the recent annual passholder merchandise preview, along with T-shirts, prints, and other collectibles.
