Bluey and Ludo Studios have been hyping fans up for the season finale for weeks. With new trailers and posts on social media, the studio has been breadcrumbing its fanbase into an absolute frenzy, but could one of its teasers reveal a massive secret?

Known simply as “The Sign,” the upcoming episode has been marketed as the “Biggest Ever” Bluey episode and promises to tie up many loose ends. Along with the primary focus on Uncle Rad and Aunt Frisky’s wedding, the social media posts have also alluded to the continuation of plot lines seen in other episodes. However, one minor detail in particular might actually speak volumes.

So far, the posts on Instagram and TikTok have hinted at several significant changes in Bluey’s circle, including a new character introduced through a pregnancy announcement. However, the series might also bring back an old favorite we last saw in season one. Pay very close attention to the footage below.
Bluey Welcomes Back an Old Friend
@bluey All signs lead to… an old friend! 🦋 #Bluey : The Sign arrives April 14th
As part of the “All Signs Lead To…” ad campaign, @bluey has dropped several hints as to what the upcoming episode will be about apart from just the obvious wedding plotline. Eagle-eyed viewers will notice that the butterfly that hovers over Bingo is the exact same one we saw as a caterpillar in season 3’s “Slide” episode. However, a closer inspection reveals a very familiar tell.

In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it detail, the trailer promises that “all signs lead to an old friend.” Given the major points Ludo Studios has hinted at previously, it’s safe to say that this will be more than a butterfly’s return. In fact, the proof is in the insect’s color scheme. Longtime viewers will know that Bluey isn’t the only character that utilizes blue hues.
Welcome Back Jean-Luc

One of the most emotionally charged episodes in Bluey’s first season was “Camping.” For those not in the know, “Camping” introduced both Bluey and the viewers to Jean-Luc, a French-speaking black lab who becomes friends with Bluey despite their language barrier. When her new friend departs, Bluey is heartbroken. However, Chilli imparts some bittersweet yet touching words of wisdom.
“Some people come into our lives, stay for a bit, and then they have to go.”
While the episode does end with Bluey and Jean-Luc reconnecting as older dogs, the pair might not have to wait that long if the blue butterfly is to be believed. It does look an awful lot like the palates of the two characters meshed together.

This isn’t just one writer’s speculation either, as Bluey has clearly not forgotten about her long-lost friend in other episodes (such as the drawing seen here). With the fanbase rooting for them to be reunited and the evidence presented by the teaser, Jean-Luc’s return might not be out of the realm of possibility.
All will be revealed when “The Sign” drops worldwide on Disney+, Disney Junior, and other streaming services April 14, 2024.
