VIDEO: “The Little Mermaid” Live-Action Trailer Released – but Not the One You Think

in Movies, Movies & TV

The shimmering gold logo for “The Little Mermaid” floats above an undersea backdrop, with Ariel’s face emerging through the water—perfectly evoking the movie magic and immersive world that Disney fans love to experience in live shows and attractions.

Disney has made a habit of creating live-action films based on their classic animated movies, with “Cinderella” a success, “Beauty and the Beast” ready for release, “The Lion King” cast announced, and “Aladdin” casting begun.

Fans eagerly awaiting a live-action version of “The Little Mermaid” can look no further than 2017 to see such a film: but not from Walt Disney Studios.

A trailer from Conglomerate Media and Kingsway Productions has been released for a new live-action film inspired by the classic Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale, “The Little Mermaid.” And despite it including an Academy Award-winning actress, it’s definitely quite different than you’d expect out of a Disney film of the same name:
