After the success of the live-action Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson as the ingenue Belle, it seems that Disney’s gears did not stop turning.

Disney+ had the idea to create a prequel series to showcase the little town and quiet village, which would bring back Luke Evans as Gaston and Josh Gad as LeFou (Louie). Considering how well the pair did as a villain and sidekick combo in the film, many Disney fans have been excited to see more! This will also be the first time we can learn more about the backstory of the characters, which is not something we typically get to see in many classic Disney animated movies.

Considering the series will focus more on Gaston’s backstory, it will be interesting to see how this villain story is explained through a series instead of a film. Lately, Disney has turned many of its classic villains into plot points for full-length feature films such as Cruella and Maleficent, but this will be the first time we are seeing it done through multiple episodes.

The prequel titled The Little Town will have music composed by Alan Menken, and it has just been announced that Briana Middleton will play the role of Tilly. Tilly will be Louie’s stepsister and the show’s description including Tilly reads:

Set in the iconic kingdom of Beauty and the Beast years before the Beast and Belle’s epic romance, the series will follow Gaston (Evans) and LeFou (Gad) as they set off with LeFou’s step-sister, Tilly (Middleton), after a surprising revelation from her past comes to light, sending the unlikely trio off on an unexpected journey filled with romance, comedy, and adventure. While the mysteries of the past are uncovered and the dangers of the present grow, old friends and new enemies reveal that this familiar kingdom harbors many secrets.

Gary Marsh, president, and chief creative officer, Disney Branded Television, noted that this show would answer many questions not only about Gaston and LeFou but also on why the Beast encountered the enchantress on that one stormy night.

“For anyone who’s ever wondered how a brute like Gaston and a goof like LeFou could have ever become friends and partners, or how a mystical enchantress came to cast that fateful spell on the prince-turned-beast, this series will finally provide those answers…and provoke a whole new set of questions,”
