A viral fan-made Star Wars creation sees Academy Award-winning actress Brie Larson (Room) take on the role of the Sith Lord Darth Revan–the Sith character fans have longed to see in the live-action–instead of her rumored role as Mara Jade, Luke Skywalker’s wife.
Who Is Darth Revan in Star Wars?
Darth Revan is one of Star Wars lore’s most complex and iconic characters, introduced in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR). Originally a Jedi Knight, Revan’s fall to the Dark Side during the Mandalorian Wars saw him rise as a Sith Lord, only to later return to the light side after the Jedi wiped his memory.
This dual alignment, embracing both the light and dark sides of the Force, made Revan a fan favorite. The unforgettable twist in KOTOR—where the player discovers they are Revan during a confrontation with Darth Malak—solidified his status as one of the most beloved figures in Star Wars gaming history. His appearance in Star Wars media is still a major want from fans, with many hopeful for Keanu Reeves to step into the the iconic role. It was recently reported that Disney had wanted Reeves to play the character Lee Jung-jae would end up portraying–Jedi Master Sol–in its recent Disney+ venture, The Acolyte.
The Acolyte became the franchise’s latest major discussion point, causing a fissure so big it replicated Rian Johnson’s sequel trilogy effort, Star Wars: Episode VIII–The Last Jedi (2017).
When it comes to Darth Revan, though, there are no immediate plans to debut the character in live-action; the focus is clearly on expanding the New Republic era with Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni’s Mando-Verse.
However, a recent viral creation has imagined a Darth Revan movie coming in 2027, and its star? Brie Larson.
Is Brie Larson playing Darth Revan in Star Wars?
The Facebook account Star Wars High Ground shared the fan-made poster art to its 122,000 followers. The poster shows a full-costumed Darth Revan wielding both a purple and a red lightsaber. The text indicates that Brie Larson would be playing the character in this fictional Star Wars: Revan movie.
BREAKING NEWS: Disney has announced that they are moving away from streaming shows and moving forward with more movies. The first after The Mandalorian and Grogu in 2026 will be what fans have asked for for years. A movie set in The Old Republic. Since the games allowed both female and male Revans, they have cast a fan favorite from the MCU, BRIE LARSON, as the lead role to add to the diversity of the project.

The post, which has been identified as a meme and commentary on Disney and Lucasfilm’s efforts to promote diversity in the Star Wars universe, references the playable versions of Darth Revan in the KOTOR games: both male and female.
Larson, who is one of the biggest Star Wars fans out there, has often been rumored to appear as Mara Jade, the Star Wars Legends character who once swore to kill Luke Skywalker–and later became his wife.
Rumors of her casting heightened during the run of The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch‘s earlier seasons, with storylines seemingly taking inspiration from the Legends catalog, such as the inclusion of Mount Tantiss and the reveal of Grand Admiral Thrawn existing in Disney’s canon timeline.
The actress is no stranger to the big blockbuster franchise, that’s for sure, but she’s also not a stranger to how a fandom can turn.
Larson faced significant backlash after her debut as Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Social media campaigns, YouTube videos, and negative reviews of Captain Marvel (2019) flooded the internet, some of which claimed Larson’s portrayal of the character lacked emotional depth.
Others argued that the character was presented as too powerful or overconfident, comparing her unfavorably to other MCU heroes who had more defined character flaws or development. Review bombing on platforms like Rotten Tomatoes further fueled the controversy–something Star Wars is all too aware of following The Acolyte‘s intense and fraught discourse.
So, while Larson has been fan-cast here as Darth Revan and before as Mara Jade, there is a chance this huge franchise fan will never grace the galaxy far, far away.
More on Darth Revan
Though Revan’s story was initially part of the Star Wars Expanded Universe, which became Star Wars Legends after Disney’s 2012 acquisition of Lucasfilm, his influence never faded. References to Revan have quietly resurfaced in canon, such as the Sith Eternal legion named after him in Star Wars: Episode IX–The Rise of Skywalker (2019).
His involvement in pivotal events like the Mandalorian Wars and his impact on Mandalorian culture further cemented his role as a key figure in the galaxy’s history, influencing not just Jedi and Sith but also the warriors of Mandalore.

Revan’s legacy extends beyond video games, inspiring novels and comics and an enduring fanbase eager for his return to the spotlight. The announcement of a KOTOR remake from Saber Interactive has reignited interest in the character, with speculation mounting about his potential re-canonization in future films or series set in the Old Republic era.
His iconic design—complete with mask, robes, and dual lightsabers—continues to inspire new Star Wars characters, such as the Knights of Ren and The Acolyte‘s The Stranger, underscoring his lasting impact on the franchise’s visual and thematic storytelling.
