Universal is proving that they are all in on the Jurassic World series. A recent update confirmed that it will once again reboot the Jurassic Park franchise with new faces, dinosaurs, and mythology. This all comes after government officials sent a critical warning to the studio regarding its development earlier this year.

The Jurassic World trilogy, a continuation of the original Jurassic Park series originally brought to life by director Steven Spielberg, explores a world where dinosaurs have been revived through genetic engineering.
The films follow dinosaur trainer Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and former park manager Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) as they navigate the chaos caused by escaped dinosaurs and unethical scientific practices.

The trilogy includes Jurassic World (2015), where a new park is overrun by the genetically modified Indominus rex; Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), which sees dinosaurs rescued from a volcanic eruption only to be exploited for profit; and Jurassic World Dominion (2022), where dinosaurs live among humans.
Financially, the trilogy was a massive success, grossing over $3.9 billion worldwide. Jurassic World earned $1.67 billion, Fallen Kingdom $1.31 billion, and Dominion over $1 billion.

Though the films received mixed reviews, particularly in their later installments, they demonstrated the enduring popularity of the franchise, blending modern blockbuster action with dinosaur-driven spectacle. The trilogy frequently referenced the original Jurassic Park films, with iconic scenes, characters, and themes making a return.
Jurassic World Dominion prominently featured returning original stars Laura Dern (Dr. Ellie Satler), Sam Neill (Dr. Alan Grant), and Jeff Goldblum (Dr. Ian Malcom). It tied together both trilogies while continuing to explore themes of genetic engineering, corporate greed, and the ethical dilemmas surrounding science and nature.

These references connected the new films with the legacy of the originals, appealing to long-time fans.
The Jurassic World trilogy’s legacy lies in revitalizing the dinosaur genre for a new generation, building on the technological advancements and ethical questions introduced in Jurassic Park.

Despite criticism over plot and character development, the trilogy reinforced the franchise’s cultural impact and expanded its influence on pop culture, pushing forward modern visual effects and continuing to question humanity’s relationship with nature.
Now, the fast-tracked new installment from Universal Pictures looks set to once again introduce fresh faces to the franchise.
Jurassic World 4 is directed by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story)–after talks with David Leitch (Deadpool 2) broke down–from a screenplay by David Koepp (Jurassic Park) and produced by Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley through Amblin Entertainment and The Kennedy/Marshall Company.

Jurassic World Rebirth First Look and Synopsis
Universal Pictures has issued the first look at Jurassic World 4, officially titled Jurassic World Rebirth. The confirmation of its name comes after reports flared suggesting the feature film was to be called Jurassic City.
The new images showcase leading the characters, Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Endgame) as the “skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett,” Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton) as paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis, and Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) as Duncan Kincaid, Zora Bennett’s right-hand.

Rounding out the cast will be Rupert Friend (Obi-Wan Kenobi) as Big Pharma man Martin Krebs, Ed Skrein as an unnamed member of Bennett’s crew, and Manuel Gacia-Rulfo as Reuben, the father of the ship-wrecked family that Bennett’s team comes across.
That shipwreck will seemingly play into the overall story of Jurassic World Rebirth.

“Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs,” the official synopsis reads via Empire. “Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived.”
The synopsis of the Jurassic World movie continues, “The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.” It says that Johansson Zora Bennett is contracted “to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs.”

Her path will eventually cross with a shipwrecked family, including Manuel Gacia-Rulfo’s Reuben, where they will “find themselves stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.”
Although light, previous information and confirmation of the filming locations seemed to suggest that the fourth installment in the Jurassic World franchise and the seventh in the overall series may be inspired by Michael Crichton’s 1995 novel “The Lost World.”

“The ruined location could mean that Jurassic World 4 may introduce natural dinosaurs like those hinted at in Michael Crichton’s novel “The Lost World” (1995), the inspiration behind Steven Spielberg’s 1997 movie of the same name,” Inside the Magic previously reported.
This analysis came in after Universal confirmed it would be filming in mid-July at locations such as Bangkok, Trang, Phang Nga, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and the Huai To Waterfall within the Khao Phanom Bencha National Park.

The production of the new Jurassic World movie in Thailand came with a critical warning from Phatcharavat Wongsuwan, the country’s Natural Resources and Environment Minister.
“It is strictly required that they comply with relevant laws and regulations and must not affect and damage natural resources and the environment,” the minister said on social media.

Jurassic World Rebirth also stars Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and Audrina Miranda as the children of Reuben (Garcia-Rolfo), as well as Philippine Velge and Bechir Sylvain in undisclosed roles. The movie is slated to be released in movie theaters on July 2, 2025.
