It’s no secret that Bluey has attracted more than the intended kindy-aged audience during its three-season run, but could adults benefit more from the antics of the Heeler family than the kids in front of the screen? Just ask Chilli and Bandit.

The Australian animated series has one of the biggest cult followings out of anything currently streaming, but the fact that it continues to attract such a large group of adults (with and without children) continues to amaze. As adorable as Bluey, Bingo, and all of their friends are, the adults in the show seem to have a growing fanbase.

Bandit and Chilli are the gold standard when it comes to TV parents, and their real-world counterparts in the audience strive to imitate their methods. However, one factor that continues to go unappreciated seems to be how the show and its characters go to great lengths to portray healthy marriages and relationships.
Bluey Gives Us Couple Goals

Bluey and Bingo might be the series’ stars, but their parents and other adults in their lives also have big roles to play. Unlike other TV parents, Bandit and Chilli are well-developed and rounded characters with their own personalities, flaws, and delightful quirks.
As much as the fandom loves to preach about how their example has changed their parenting style, the way the show depicts a healthy marriage between Chilli and Bandit needs to be studied. Additionally, it doesn’t just stop at the show’s resident power couple.
After rewatching episodes like “The Show,” “Teasing,” and “Fairytale,” it’s blatantly evident that Bandit and Chilli’s character dynamics extend far beyond just being parents to Bluey and Bingo. They have remarkable on-screen chemistry, excellent communication skills, and a positively heartwarming way of openly showing affection, but they’re not the only pair adult viewers can learn from.
Beyond the Backyard

One of the best episodes showcasing how brilliant Bluey is at presenting relationships was “The Sign,” a 28-minute-long special featuring Uncle Rad and Aunt Frisky’s wedding as the focal point of the episode’s drama. During the special, viewers are shown the importance of communication, understanding, compromise, and willingness to change.

It’s focal points like these that keep the show just as relevant to adult viewers as they are to kids (if not more). In a world where so many shows and movies depict marriages on the ropes or in utter shambles, it’s nice to remember that healthy and happy relationships exist.
Just as kids need positive models in their media, so too do husbands and wives in what they consume. Given the direction the show seems to be taking, it’s clear that Bluey creator Joe Brumm and the rest of his team at Ludo Studio understand that fact as well.
