Now, its sequel (directed by Kelsey Mann) is shaping up to be Disney’s most anticipated film of 2024, with Riley entering her teenage years and a whole slew of new emotions entering the fray: Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, and Ennui. One of the most exciting things about Inside Out 2 is the four new emotions that come with Riley entering her teenage years. Now, after Pixar teased the new emotions in a poster and teaser trailer in November 2023, fans will finally know who is taking on these characters alongside Maya Hawke as Anxiety.
The first is Ayo Edebiri, a talented comedian and actor known for her performances in Bottoms (2023), Theater Camp (2023), and The Bear, the latter of which has earned her numerous awards, including an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a SAG Award. She plays Envy, a tiny, adorable emotion who wants everything.

Second is Paul Walter Hauser, an actor known for his performances in I, Tonya (2017), BlacKkKlansman (2018), Da 5 Bloods (2020), Cruella (2021), Richard Jewell (2019), and Black Bird, which earned him a Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Award. Hauser is playing Embarrassment, a large, rotund emotion wearing a hoodie to hide in.
Finally, we have Adèle Exarchopoulos, a French actor most well-known for her breakout performance in Blue is the Warmest Color (2013), leading to her becoming the youngest performer to earn the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. She has starred in countless films since, including providing the voice for Ember Lumen in the French dub of Elemental (2023). She’s playing Ennui, an emotion who couldn’t care less and wears a turtle neck while constantly looking at her phone.

Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone.

However, there are more details now that the official trailer has been released. Anxiety seems to take on a more antagonistic role, literally bottling up the original emotions in order to take control of Riley. Now, the original emotions have to get back to headquarters in order to regain control and right the course for our protagonist.
