When Walt Disney World Resort began making announcements surrounding its 50th anniversary celebration — which officially begins October 1, 2021 — it was clear that Disney Parks fans had a lot to look forward to.

From gorgeous decorations on Cinderella Castle to not one, but two, new nighttime spectaculars — EPCOT’s Harmonious and Magic Kingdom’s Disney Enchantment — to reimagined “EARisdescent” costumes for Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and the whole gang to more merchandise collections than fans could possibly ever buy, the 18-month-long World’s Most Magical Celebration is going to be a party for the ages.

Now, however, fans have become…concerned…about one of Disney World’s new 50th anniversary offerings. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park will be debuting a daytime show entitled Disney KiteTails, and the preview of the show was far from enticing.

A new meme has already started making the rounds online and has been shared by a number of Disney accounts, including the Pure Pixie Dust Instagram page. The amusing meme features KiteTails concept art vs. the actual new Animal Kingdom balloons, and the result is truly funny.
Pure Pixie Dust captioned the meme, “What were they thinking?”

JoJo Crichton took to TikTok to share a video of the KiteTails preview, complete with captions, including “The end tho” with a laughing emoji.
@jojocrichton THIS DISNEY 🪁 IS SO COOL! Even when it’s not flying 😂 #disneyworld #disneycreator #animalkingdom #fyp
Many other fans have also taken to social media to share their thoughts.
AshleyInDisneyWorld didn’t hold back, hilariously posting:

Ashley also shared a hilarious photo of the Baloo balloon from KiteTails:
Did anyone else relate to Baloo Kite Tails fail on a personal level… so much feeling in this pic. How my life is going. #disney #disneyparks #wdw

Way Maker Adventures tried to be diplomatic about the situation:
I thought harmonious was great but kite tails not so much.

Despite Disney’s assurances that Disney Enchantment will “outdo” fan-favorite Happily Ever After, “total meme” KiteTails has some fans like Shannon very worried:
After Harmonius and the total meme that was KiteTails, I am worried to watch Enchantment tomorrow. Praying that show is good because Disney has been racking up the disappointments lately.

Honeydew Wolf shared similar disappointment:
The saddest thing about Disney’s Kite Tails is so many cultures all over the world make beautiful kites and fly them in gorgeous ways and Disney just said lets have some normal kites flown on jet skis and dopey looking floats on the ends of strings

Even young Disney fans are not thrilled with the KiteTails experience:
My 11 year old hates KiteTails and is so bitter that Disney took out Rivers of Light and put this in. #animalkingdom

There is, of course, always the chance that Walt Disney Imagineers will tweak KiteTails as time goes by but, for now, Disney World fans are less-than-thrilled with its presentation.
