In less than 48 hours, Walt Disney World will turn 50 years old, and a massive celebration will begin at The Most Magical Place on Earth. For 18 months, Guests will be able to celebrate Disney’s World’s gold anniversary with new nighttime spectaculars, new attractions and restaurants, and more new merchandise than you can shake a stick at.

No celebration would be complete without decorations, and Disney has definitely not skimped on those either! Cinderella Castle has been adorned with gems and ribbons from top to bottom, gorgeous new lights have been added to Spaceship Earth at EPCOT, and each of the four theme parks will light up at night and project lights and Disney magic to all corners of the Park.

There are a lot of iconic spots in Disney World getting their 50th anniversary makeovers — including possibly the most iconic image of Disney World — except for maybe Cinderella Castle — the “highway in the sky”, the Walt Disney World monorail.

Guests visiting EPCOT tonight were able to see the monorail light up as it made its way through the theme park. Each Disney monorail has its own special color, and it seems as though the track it is on will light up to match the monorail. Inside the Magic was at EPCOT and saw the track light up blue as the monorail went through.

Disney Parks also shared an amazing video on its Instagram of what the monorail will look like at night throughout the entire 50th anniversary celebration.

Glow-up alert! Each Monorail train received a special nighttime enhancement for the 50th anniversary with the addition of glowing lights that match each train’s specific color, spreading magic everywhere the Monorail runs across @WaltDisneyWorld Resort during the 18-month celebration. 🚝 #DisneyWorld50

Seeing the monorail glide along with Spaceship Earth shining brightly in the background is truly a sight to behold. However, EPCOT is not the only place you will be able to see the beautiful monorails. All monorails throughout the Resort will light up at night, so Guests will also be able to see them at the Ticket and Transportation Center and the Magic Kingdom, as well as at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Polynesian Village, and Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
