The Disney Store has been closing an ever-increasing number of locations throughout North America since their first round of closures were announced earlier this year, and fans are not the only ones who are upset about it. Disney Store Cast Members are trying to transfer to other locations, but in some cases, that is not possible. All Canadian Disney stores are scheduled to be closed by this summer, for example, and the first-ever Disney store located in Glendale, California will have its last day open on July 14.

One Disney Store Cast Member, Sam Locke (@SamLocke1994), took to Twitter to share the special pin that she was wearing to commemorate one of her last shifts at the store. It is a pin showing the loveable snowman Olaf from Frozen II (2019) and his famous search for Samantha. Sam wrote:

@joshgad the Disney store I work at is closing and today is pin day. I used it to my advantage to put Olaf on my name tag with my favorite quote #samantha #idontevenknowasamantha

Sam tagged the voice of Olaf, Disney star Josh Gad. In true, amazing Josh Gad fashion, the celeb took the time to respond to the Cast Member and used a simple quote that meant so much:

I’m so sorry it’s closing but I can promise you one thing… this will all make sense when you are older.

The quote comes from Frozen II as Olaf is searching for Anna (Kristen Bell), Elsa (Idina Menzel)…and Samantha — who doesn’t actually exist — in the Enchanted Forest. Olaf tries (somewhat unsuccessfully) to convince himself that he will understand all of the mysterious goings-on in the Enchanted Forest when he gets older.

In regard to the Disney Store, The Walt Disney Company has said that they are choosing to close so many stores because of a shift in focus to online retail and shop-in-shop locations like select Targets have, but it does not take away the sting felt by fans and Cast Members alike. Inside the Magic even conducted a survey to see how fans felt about shopping online versus shopping in a physical Disney Store and the results are clear — 79% would prefer shopping in a store.

While we don’t know if things will ever make sense when we are older, it is nice to know that someone is out there, ready to show their support and send their love when we are feeling down. It feels like a nice, warm hug from Olaf himself.
