Today marks a historic day as Disneyland Paris officially reopened Disneyland Park, Walt Disney Studios Park, Disney’s Newport Bay Club Hotel, and Disney Village after being closed due to the ongoing pandemic!

And with Disneyland Paris reopening its theme parks, today is the first day in over one year where all Disney Parks around the globe are once again open to the public simultaneously!

In honor of this day of celebration, Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, recently released a letter to thank Guests and Cast Members for supporting Disney, for persevering during these unprecedented times, and he even touched on how he is optimistic for the future.

Per Disney Parks Blog:

Today is a day to celebrate.

It’s the day we’re reopening Disneyland Paris Resort, and it’s the first time in 17 months that all of our theme parks around the world are open, bringing people together to enjoy happiness, hope and inspiration. Needless to say, we are absolutely thrilled!

To our guests and fans … thank you for supporting and standing by us. We’re honored that you’ve stuck with us through a very difficult time, and I’m moved by the imaginative ways you’ve kept the Disney magic alive in your own families and communities during our closures. Seeing you back in our parks and resorts has been amazing.

To our cast members, crew members, Imagineers and employees … thank you for persevering and keeping the faith, from work and from home. You’re the heartbeat of all that we do, and the true source of Disney magic. I love seeing you, and saying hello and catching up.

D’Amaro continued to explain how the last 17 months have been a challenge, but the pandemic also opened up their eyes and gave opportunities to help them reimagine for the future:

The last 17 months have challenged us, but they’ve also given us opportunities to make bold decisions and reimagine our business for the future.

We’ve redesigned our operations, putting technology at your fingertips with options like mobile ordering and online hotel check-in … taken a new approach to live entertainment to create surprising magical moments … focused more than ever on creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome … and marveled at our Imagineers’ work to create years’ worth of new experiences. I’m proud of how our teams have used creativity, imagination and technology to do things we’ve always dreamed of, that can only be found at Disney.

Today in Paris, our cast members are happily welcoming guests back, with a new attraction in Walt Disney Studios Park: Cars ROAD TRIP. Next week we’ll open Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel. Congratulations to our team, and I can’t wait to visit and walk the parks with you.

When discussing what we can look forward to, D’Amaro mentioned Disney Cruise Line and how the ships will once again set sail as well as mentioning all of the celebrations Disney has this year, including Shanghai Disney’s 5 year anniversary, Hony Kong Disneyland’s 15 year anniversary, and Disney World’s 50th anniversary:

The relaunch of Disney Cruise Line is on the horizon, and our resort hotels are continuing to reopen around the world. Adventures by Disney is adding new itineraries and expanding our Private Adventures portfolio. Consumer Products, Games and Publishing has pivoted beautifully to meet the needs of guests and fans worldwide. And we’re celebrating important anniversaries around the globe – 5 years at Shanghai Disney Resort, 15 at Hong Kong Disneyland and soon 50 at Walt Disney World Resort!

As you can see, we have a lot to celebrate today, and we’re incredibly optimistic about our future. The world is beginning to recover and reopen, and while we still have work ahead … we will always rise to the challenges and opportunities that shape our business, and embrace a future full of endless possibilities.

Disney Parks Blog also took to Instagram to share a video welcoming back both Guests and Cast Members to Disneyland Paris as well as celebrating the return of magic to all of the theme parks across the globe:

As the first guests step through the gates of Disneyland Paris, we mark the celebrated return of magic made at our theme parks, worldwide. To all who come to this happy place, welcome back! ✨

And Disney Parks also took to Twitter to share the news, writing the following message in multiple Tweets:

We have a lot to celebrate today, as for the first time in 17 months, all of our theme parks around the world are open and welcoming guests to share the magic of Disney with their loved ones!

This past year has been challenging for us all, but has also given us an unexpected opportunity to reimagine our business for the future and create new experiences that our guests will love.

As the world continues to recover and reopen, we’re optimistic about a future full of possibilities and more exciting milestones to share with you. To all who come to this happy place, welcome back! Read more from our chairman, Josh D’Amaro: bit.ly/2SHeYAf

In case you weren’t aware, Disneyland Paris — home to Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park — has had to make constant changes due to the ongoing pandemic. Originally Disneyland Paris reopened its theme parks on July 15, 2020, following its first closure, however, theme park officials then made the decision to close for a second time in October 2020 due to French government regulations. Originally, Disneyland Paris aimed to reopen on February 13, 2021, but that was not the case.

In fact, come January 2020, the theme parks had to push that originally anticipated reopening date back, again due to French restrictions.

But as we continue to move forward amid the ongoing pandemic, and as we mentioned earlier, Disneyland Paris officially reopened Disneyland Park, Walt Disney Studios Park, Disney’s Newport Bay Club Hotel, and Disney Village today — June 17!
