Disney Cruise Line has just announced that they will host a test sailing beginning later this month!
On May 29, the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention made an announcement that allows for Carnival Cruise Line to begin sailings once again out of Port Canaveral, Miami, and Galveston, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Carnival Cruise Line announced that they would allow test sailings to prove COVID-19 safety protocols out of these three ports.
Now, it looks like Disney Cruise Line will follow Carnival’s lead as they have been approved for test sailings out of Port Canaveral as well. It has been confirmed that a test cruise will take place starting June 29.
Per Orlando Sentinel, an official statement from Cynthia Martinez, Director of Communications and Public Affairs was released, which reads:
“We have reached an important next step toward our gradual and responsible resumption of service, and are grateful for the productive dialogue with state, local and federal officials, the CDC and others in our industry that has made this possible.
We look forward to our amazing crew once again creating magic for our guests and to helping the many workers who support our industry get back to work.”
Port Canaveral officials also released a statement welcoming the return of Disney Cruise Line. Orlando Sentinel’s report continued:
“Our continuous efforts in close consultation with our cruise partners at Disney has led to this important milestone,” stated Port Canaveral CEO Capt. John Murray. “We’re very excited and ready to welcome back the iconic Disney ships to their home at Port Canaveral.”
Additionally, Reporter Scott Gustin shared the news on Twitter, saying the sailings will begin later this month:
