If you have been waiting with anticipation for more news of everyone’s favorite Sanderson Sisters you are in luck! Disney has confirmed that the Hocus Pocus sequel will make its way to Disney+ in the fall of 2022!

Walt Disney Studios shared the exciting news on their Instagram:

It’s all just a bunch of Hocus Pocus 2️⃣ Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy will reprise their roles as the delightfully wicked Sanderson Sisters in #HocusPocus2, coming fall 2022 to @DisneyPlus.

Also in the Instagram post, it was great to see the original Hocus Pocus actresses joining in on the fun!

While it is not confirmed at this time, Thora Birch — who played the original Dani Dennison — hinted that she may also be returning to the new film as well. It has also not been confirmed whether Omri Katz will return as Max Dennison or if Vinessa Shaw will return as Allison.

In a press release, Disney shared that Hocus Pocus 2 will take place in modern-day Salem and, much like the first film, will deal with three young women who bring the Sanderson sisters back once again.

Hocus Pocus first premiered in 1993 and focused on a virgin — Max Dennison — lighting the bewitched Black Flame Candle on Halloween, which brought the Sanderson sisters – Midler, Parker, and Najimy — back to life after being hanged for witchcraft in 1693 Salem. The sisters return hoping to suck the lives out of the children of Salem before the sun rises, so they can live forever.

The bumbling sisters and their attempts to live forever provided viewers with a lot of laughs and filled the screen with Halloween fun. The film did not open to rave reviews and high ratings, but now has a cult following and is featured repeatedly during Freeform’s 31 Night’s of Halloween.

Hocus Pocus 2 was supposed to be directed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray), but Shankman recently had to step away from the project due to other commitments. Adam Shankman has been replaced by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal).

Inside the Magic will keep readers updated on more information on this spooky sequel as it is released.
