If you are a fan of Hocus Pocus, get ready because it seems that big things are coming down the pipeline in the near future!

Hocus Pocus was created in 1993, and after flopping at the box office, no one could have predicted that the Sanderson sisters would actually be a part of a cult classic that would be popular for years to come. During D23 in 2019, Disney announced that Hocus Pocus 2 was in development, which excited Halloween and Disney fans alike!

As the word got out that Bette Midler (Winifred), Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah), and Kathy Najimy (Mary) were all returning for the sequel, many Hocus Pocus fans have only grown in anticipation for its return.

When Disney announced that Hocus Pocus 2 would be returning, it was under the impression that Adam Shankman (Hairspray) would lead the way as a director. Since then, we have heard that the Untitled C / W Project (listed as Shankman’s most recent IMDB project) had Midler, Parker, Najimy attached, all three actors loved the script, and that location scouting had begun. Although that does not mean filming is underway just yet, it was all positive news and major steps forward.

However, it was then noted that Shankman had to step down from the project as he was too busy with Disenchanted, so now Anne Fletcher (The Proposal) has been said to take over the project. That being said, Shankman just took to Instagram with a post that has left fans feeling like he may not be done with the Sanderson sisters just yet!

Adam Shankman (@adamshankman) said:

I’m smiling this big (and believe me: it’s big) because I’m back at work and I freaking love my job and there’s huge news coming this week on #disenchanted and #hocuspocus2 to discuss and we will lean into it all. Just know: it’s all REALLY REALLY good. Wahoooooo!!!

The cryptic message has left many of us Hocus Pocus fans wondering what is going on! Shankman is good friends with Anne Fletcher, and the two have worked together in the past, so it would not be surprising to see the two reunite on Hocus Pocus 2. However, Shankman mentioned that the big news was for both Disenchanted and Hocus Pocus, so it would be interesting to see if the news was somehow interconnected with the two films.

For now, we can only speculate what’s to come, but from this post, it seems that we will not be waiting too long for an answer!

What surprises do you think Shankman is referring to when it comes to Hocus Pocus 2 and Disenchanted
