Disney California Adventure Park officially reopened to Guests in November for shopping — and later limited dining — in the Buena Vista Street area. The theme park then opened up even more in March 2020, a year after it had closed, for the hard-ticketed event, A Touch of Disney. On April 30, the theme park was able to reopen with rides along with Disneyland, 412 days after the last time Guests were able to experience the attractions.

However, not all restaurants opened up when California Adventure did, and some are still closed. One of those restaurants is the Alfresco Tasting Terrace. The quiet outdoor dining spot in California Adventure was popular for Guests looking to escape theme park crowds without actually having to leave the park.

Before the Disneyland Resort was forced to shut down due to the pandemic, the Alfresco Tasting Terrace had become a dining area exclusive to Annual Passholders and their Guests. Even though Disney decided to end their Annual Pass Program in January 2021, they have decided to keep the Alfresco Tasting Terrace exclusive to former Annual Passholders — now called Legacy Passholders.

When Alfresco Tasting Terrance opens at California Adventure on May 20 to Legacy Passholders, they will reveal a new menu with new food and drink options. The new menu will continue to pay homage to the state of California, but it will also give a nod to classic attractions — past and present — within California Adventure. Let’s take a look!

Food Options

One of the options available to Guests on the Alfresco Tasting Terrace dining menu will be the Condor Flats-Bread. This delicious flatbread pizza will feature Duck Confit, Goat Cheese, and Fig jam and represents the popular attraction Soarin’Around the World — formerly Soarin’ Over California. If you are wondering how the ride and the pizza are connected, it is because Soarin’ Around the World is located in an area of the theme park known as Condor Flats.

Another menu item may look familiar to those who have attended past Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festivals. The beef tenderloin sliders with chimichurri sauce and pickled red onions have made such an impact on Guests, that the Terrace has put them on the menu under the name Slider Invasion. The Tasting Terrace had offered a beef slider with horseradish but decided to switch to this fan favorite. These delicious sliders are juicy and warm and like potato chips, you can’t eat just one.

Drink Options

Not only has the Alfresco Tasting Terrace updated their food menu, but there are also a number of fun drinks — both alcoholic and non-alcoholic — that Guests will be able to enjoy. One of those is a nod to the classic, now rethemed, Disney attraction, Tower of Terror. The Drop In…If You Dare is made of Gin, Elderflower Liqueur, Fresh Lime Juice, and Maraschino Cherry Mix.

That is not the only drink that honors a past Disneyland attraction — or land in this case. One of the non-alcoholic beverages on the menu is A Bug’s Drink. The Bug’s Life area was closed in 2018 to make way for Disney’s newest land, Avengers Campus, which will open on June 4. The drink is made with Minute Maid® Lemonade, Granny Smith Apple Syrup, and fresh watermelon.

Another non-alcoholic option celebrates one of Disney/Pixar’s most classic films, CarsThe Cowabunga! is a pizza-inspired drink that includes flavors of pineapple, jalapeño, and mushroom. The drink also comes in an adult version where Vodka is added to bring more classic Bloody Mary flavors.

The above menu items are only a small sample of what you can expect from the new Alfresco Tasting Terrace menu. There are more delicious food offerings, as well as more beverage offerings, including a variety of California wines. Reservations to the Alfresco Tasting Terrace will open on May 18 for dates beginning on May 20. Again, the Tasting Terrace will only be open to Disney Legacy Passholders and their Guests. Valid theme park tickets and reservations are required to enter the theme park.
