There are so many attractions at Walt Disney World that it can be hard to keep track of what is open and what is closed. Inside the Magic is now creating a monthly attraction closure list to help you avoid any disappointment on your trip. There is nothing worse than getting to the park and realizing that your favorite ride is actually closed!

Here are the current ride closures for May in Walt Disney World. It is important to check back as you get closer to your Disney World trip as the calendar is subject to change and Disney is constantly updating its refurbishment schedule.

Now, let’s take a look at what closures you can expect at Disney World in May.

Magic Kingdom

There are several rides in Disney World’s main park that will be closed in the month of May.

Walt Disney World Railroad

All three stations at Magic Kingdom for the Railroad are listed as temporarily unavailable for the entire month (May 1-May 31):

  • Walt Disney World Railroad – Frontierland  – Temporarily Unavailable Closed for Refurbishment
  • Walt Disney World Railroad – Fantasyland – Temporarily Unavailable Closed for Refurbishment
  • Walt Disney World Railroad – Main Street, U.S.A.  – Temporarily Unavailable Closed for Refurbishment

As noted in previous refurbishment articles, the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for quite a long time — Since December 3, 2018, to be exact. The most likely cause for the closure is the construction of the TRON Lightcycle/Run in Tomorrowland, which overlaps with sections of the railway. With this construction, it is most likely that the Railroad will not open back up until construction is completed, though nothing has been confirmed by Disney.

Hall of Presidents

The Hall of Presidents has been closed down since Inauguration Day — January 20, 2021. The Hall of Presidents is being updated to include the new President, Joe Biden. There is currently no reopening date for this attraction and is listed as temporarily unavailable for the entire month (May 1-May 31).

Main Street Confectionery

Though it is not an attraction, the Main Street Confectionery is an extremely popular location in the Magic Kingdom. It is undergoing a big renovation and has been closed since the beginning of April.

At this time, it is listed under the refurbishments for the entire month (May 1-May 31).

EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom

Luckily for Guests who are traveling to the Walt Disney World Resort in May will not experience any ride closures at these three parks (as of right now). So Guests can scream on Tower of Terror or try to see new baby mandrill Ivy on Kilimanjaro Safaris as many times as they want.
