Well, here’s yet another day where Universal fans and coaster enthusiasts alike are patiently waiting for an update on VelociCoaster’s opening date from Universal Orlando.
Although we do not yet have any more information in terms of what day we can see this prehistoric coaster roar to life, there are lots of details being added.

As Universal gears up for the opening, there is a lot happening with the soon-to-be VelociCoaster at the moment, which can excite Guests for what is to come. One of the most recent developments is that Universal now has Jurassic World VelociCoaster added to their height levels.

Thanks to Universal Creative Art Director and Designer Gregory Hall (@G_Prodigy) we can see that Guests are now able to see how tall one must be to ride VelociCoaster (which is 4′ 3″).
Although this may not be as exciting as an opening date, having the name of the coaster applied throughout the theme park just allows Guests to be reaffirmed that the opening is on the way. It seems that the only thing Universal is still working on for the coaster at this time are the smaller details.

VelociCoaster is also continuing to test the coaster on what seems to be a daily basis. With the coasters’ audio in place, 3-D screens running, and all the exterior statues in place, it seems that the attraction itself is nearly ready for Guests — It even has already undergone human testing.

Shooting out at 70 mph, VelociCoaster will be the fastest launch attraction in Florida, which is sure to bring in quite a crowd. Aside from this, the classic Jurassic-theming will be the new Jurassic World franchise in with the original Jurassic Park theming that the land has in Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

With merchandise filling many stands both in Islands of Adventure, as well as around CityWalk, it seems that Universal is continuing to build the hype for this coaster. Previously, we speculated that June 1 would be a perfect opening day for the Jurassic coaster, as it would be within the summer 2021 timeline that Universal indicated, and it is also National Dinosaur Day, however, nothing has been confirmed at this point.
That being said, many are also hoping for a soft opening for the attraction, which we have seen Universal do in the past, specifically for Universal Annual Passholders.Â
