As of just a few days ago, the theme parks of the Disneyland Resort have been closed for eight months. But now, Guests are getting an official view inside Disneyland Park for the first time in forever.

Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro presented as the keynote speaker for the IAAPA Expo 2020 Virtual Education Conference on Monday morning. And during the presentation, D’Amaro showed us a look inside the currently closed Disneyland for the first time.

We’ve only been able to get a look inside Disneyland via aerial images or sneak peeks through the gates. And when we have gotten a look at Main Street, U.S.A., through the front of Disneyland Park, though from a distance, we have been able to catch glimpses of the health and safety protocol in place inside the theme park.

But in the image above shared by IAAPA, we can clearly see more of the social distancing markers in place at Disneyland, a theme park that has been “ready to reopen” since July, D’Amaro remarked in the past. To be able to actually see the original Main Street, U.S.A., is huge for Disney fans, so this is such a treat this morning, less than four days before, just across the Esplanade, Buena Vista Street is set to reopen at Disney California Adventure.

D’Amaro shared that the company has “well documented our disappointment” regarding the ongoing closure of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park. Currently, the parks are not expected to reopen until sometime in 2021. You can read more here.

But we did get some good news.

“Our industry is hurting. It’s hurting from the presence of COVID-19 in our communities. But unlike some industries impacted by the pandemic, our industry is here to stay and it’s here to grow,” the chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products said.

During this presentation, the Disney Parks Chairman also gave us views inside Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

And from a distance, we can more clearly see the Quinjet in place near the E-ticket attraction coming soon to the all-new Marvel-themed land, Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. We have gotten a few glimpses of the Quinjet before, but this is a great treat this morning.

D’Amaro provided updates on Disney Parks operations amid the ongoing pandemic this morning, saying, “We’ve learned a lot in this COVID time, including how nimble we can be to stay connected and create experiences for Guests.” Disney has continued to use Walt Disney World Resort in Florida as an example of how the company has safely operated theme parks in a pandemic.

At the end of the IAAPA keynote presentation, after providing updates on several projects currently in the works, Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro shared an inspiring quote about dreaming big:

“In the world that we find ourselves in today, optimism, innovation, and courage, they will ultimately win the day,” D’Amaro said. “With the emboldened spirit that comes from the challenges of the COVID crisis, with the hope and optimism that our brand captures even in the toughest of times, let’s ask ourselves why not take our guests to the moon or bring the moon to our guests? Why not dream as big as possible? And challenge the very meaning of the word impossible.”

Disney is providing more updates on upcoming attractions this morning, and we are updating our website with the latest information as it is released.
