in Walt Disney World

We all know that the sometimes it may be a bit frustrating when a theme park attraction at Disney World breaks down. However, one unique and cool experience that can come of this is getting the chance to see a dark ride attraction — like Space Mountain or Dinosaur — with the lights on!

This really is an experience many Disney fans dream of so they can get a different look at the magic of behind these attractions, so we have compiled a list of some of our favorite and unique attractions to see with the lights on!

Here at Inside the Magic, our goal is not to ruin the magic for our readers. Instead, we really wanted to share with you how these attractions are so different when experienced in a different “light” — pun intended.

Space Mountain

Now, as many of you know, Space Mountain is meant to be ridden in the dark — I mean, you are riding through space. But have you ever wondered what Space Mountain looks like with the lights on?

In the video below, you can really see how close and compact the Space Mountain track is and how low the crossbars appear! And the funny part is, for those of you who have been lucky enough to experience Space Mountain with the lights on at some point in your life, I guarantee you will say it is much scarier riding Space Mountain with the lights on than riding it in the dark.

Seeing how close the track is and how compact it is definitely opens up your mind and might make you rethink raising your hands when riding the ride.

Remember, Disney states to keep all hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the. vehicle at all times. Safety is number one priority at Walt Disney World.

Haunted Mansion

Another iconic, and my personal favorite, attraction at Magic Kingdom that is considered a dark ride is Haunted Mansion, located in Liberty Square.

Now, of course, ghosts only come out at night so this attraction has to be a dark ride to get the full experience, but have you ever wondered what the inside looks like with the lights on? Check out our side-by-side POV YouTube video below.

This attraction is another dark ride, but this one is located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. On a mission to go back in time and grab our Dino before the meter hits is certainly a scary task — But what do these ginormous dinosaurs look like with the lights on?

Inside the Magic reported back in 2019 what this attraction looks like with the lights on thanks to an unfortunate breakdown. Read more about this here!

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Okay, so this one isn’t exactly a “see this attraction with the lights on,” however, what about experiencing an attraction with no sound?

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a trackless theme park ride that features effects and sounds like no other Disney attraction. As you can imagine, the technology is extremely important in order for the ride to run correctly. Well, one YouTuber posted a video of them riding Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway for the first time — with no effects, animations, or sound! Check it out below.
