It wasn’t long ago Inside the Magic reported that one Disney park — Shanghai Disneyland — resumed their nighttime spectacular and fireworks at their theme park. Also, Tokyo Disney just announced they will be resuming nighttime parades and their fireworks spectacular at their theme park in September.

This leaves many wondering when Walt Disney World will resume their popular fireworks spectaculars, including Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom or Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Well, it looks as though we may be inching closer to the return.

According to one Reddit user, she and her husband recently saw projections on Cinderella Castle after park hours.

About a week ago, my husband and I were dining at California Grill and had a great view of MK. It was dark and after park hours and we saw something like a show projection on the castle. We couldn’t make out what it was. We also saw white flashing lights across Main Street. Does anyone know what this might have been?

The comments suggest possible testing of the nighttime projections that go along with the popular fireworks show, Happily Ever After.

This could very well be possible as social distancing markers were recently added to Main Street U.S.A. to encourage social distancing during the new cavalcades. In addition, given how Shanghai Disney implemented social distancing for its stage shows and fireworks, Walt Disney World could be following in their footsteps as they could implement more of these at Magic Kingdom.

We did want to mention, that if Walt Disney World does bring back fireworks, this would mean Disney would have to change the park hours yet again because right now, Magic Kingdom closes way too early for fireworks to be displayed.

Keep in mind, if you plan on visiting Walt Disney World now that the theme parks are reopened, there are several changes in place to keep Guests and Cast Members safe. From limited capacity to social distancing to eliminating character meet and greets, fireworks, parades and shows, to encouraging mobile dining, the theme parks definitely look different than they did prior to the temporary closure.
