We recently reported about some activity at the Walt Disney World Resort, specifically at Disney Springs; potentially pointing at preparations for a re-opening. A delivery sign pointing to a bustling service parking lot and a change in the signage for the Grapefruit garage turned into Cast parking all have us wondering if Disney Springs is preparing for an impending reopening.
Disney Springs Re-Opening Status
The Florida Task Force kicked off Florida’s Phase 1 reopening this week, allowing businesses like restaurants and retailers to reopen; as long as they follow the safety guidelines set in place. However, Disney has yet to announce an official re-opening date for the resort or Disney Springs, even though Disney Springs is essentially an entertainment shopping center.
OpenTable Dining Reservations Available
We recently stumbled upon a glimmer of hope that might point in the direction of a date. OpenTable, a third-party restaurant reservation-booking platform, is showing availability for Disney Springs restaurant Wine Bar George starting May 18th!
We searched the site for any other dining reservation openings in Disney Springs, but it appears Wine Bar George is the only Disney Springs restaurant showing that late May availability. And there is no sign of availability on Disney’s official planning tool, My Disney Experience.
Dining Reservation Availability for Universal Orlando Restaurants
When searching by location, OpenTable also showed availability at Trattoria del Porto at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando starting May 22. Universal’s CityWalk, which is the equivalent of Disney World’s Disney Springs, is rumored to be reopening soon. However, Universal has yet to confirm this information.
My Disney Experience Dining Reservation Availability for June
Disney’s My Disney Experience is still showing dining reservation availability beginning June 1st, 2020, which lines up with their room and package reservation openings beginning on that date. However, they have been very clear that availability is not indicative of a reopening date, in addition to informing guests booking for those dates that their reservations can and might get canceled.
We can’t wait to go back to our favorite theme park and enjoy some Disney dining soon! Especially at EPCOT. Food & Wine Festival anyone? Dining at a trash can would even sound lovely right about now.
Do you have any advance dining reservations waiting for you in the near future? Maybe a character breakfast at Magic Kingdom? A royal meal with Disney princesses at Cinderella’s Royal Table is just what the doctor ordered. Oh to dream! We’re holding on to hope and to some of ours with our fingers crossed that we’ll be back at our favorite dining destinations soon.
We will continue sharing the latest details regarding this developing story, so be sure to keep checking back with us here at Inside the Magic for the latest in Disney news and magical content. See ya real soon!
