Today, April 28, 2020 the Florida Task Force discussed recommend guidelines for various businesses for reopening — including hair salons, movies, restaurants, hotels, and Florida’s theme parks — Including the Disney Parks and Universal Orlando.
Restaurants
Though this discussion from the Task Force wasn’t directed towards the theme parks — Since places such as Disney Springs are home to several different restaurants, including places such as Rainforest Cafe, D-Luxe Burger, Earl of Sandwich, and others, these guidelines and protocols could be put into place.
The following Task Force guidelines were discussed:
Paper/disposable menus
The encouragement of take out and online orders
Touchless hand sanitizer at entryways
Also discussed was hand sanitizer at every table, all employees must wear face masks, temperature checks for staff prior to shift, doors to be wiped regularly, seated tables six feet apart to encourage social distancing, and more.
The Economic Recovery Task Force has made recommendations for both small theme parks and large theme parks.
Small Theme Parks
Places such as Top Golf, Funspot, and Gatorland should take the following Task Force guidelines when reopening:
Tape marking of 6 feet apart in ride/attraction queues to encourage social distancing
Staff regularly wipe down surfaces
Large Theme Parks
Places such as Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando should take the following guidelines when reopening:
Tape marking of 6 feet apart in ride/attraction queues to encourage social distancing
Staff regularly wipe down surfaces
They also discussed things such as temperature checks (which Bob Iger has already recommended), touchless hand sanitizer at each ticketing entry and exit as well as at each ride and attraction, as well as employees must wear face masks at all times.
During Phase 1 of the theme parks reopening — Places such as Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando may reopen at a 50% capacity. Once Phase 2 hits, the capacity can expand to 75%.
Mayor Demings stated during the meeting that a June reopening is “more realistic” than a May reopening.
As of right now, Disney Parks has not yet made an announcement on when the parks will reopen to guests, but Inside the Magic will continue to update you as we find out more information. For more information on Disney Resort reservation cancellations, you can visit our FAQ article here.
