Disney World Closure

We previously reported that Disney had canceled once-made reservations for Walt Disney World in Orlando for April and select dates at the beginning of May. Still, it looks as though the Disney Parks are continuing to make changes and cancel previously made reservations for Walt Disney travel dates in mid-May due to the temporary Park closures.

One of Inside the Magic’s readers informed us that the Park closures have now impacted their Walt Disney World reservation for mid-May, and Disney has to cancel their reservation.

The reader received this email informing the Guest that their Walt Disney World vacation for May 13 – May 15 is now impacted by the temporary closures. The Disney Guest had the option to modify or cancel their Walt Disney World reservation, but if no action were taken, Disney would process a refund back to the original form of payment.

A writer for Inside the Magic still has a trip booked for Disney World in Orlando for May 21-25 but has not yet received an email regarding their Disney World travel dates.

Disney has already waived all of its cancellation fees for all hotel reservations with check-in dates between now and June 30, 2020. According to the Walt Disney World website:

“If no action is taken by you before your check-in date for arrivals during the closure period, Disney will automatically cancel your reservation within seven days of the original check-in date and process any refund due to the original form of payment. Please note that cancellation fees imposed by third-party suppliers, including airlines and rental cars, as well as non-refundable products like travel protection plans, are deducted from refundable amounts for Walt Disney Travel Company packages.”

Right now, Guests can still go to the Disney World website and book their Walt Disney World vacations for any date AFTER June 1, 2020.

At this moment, we still don’t have any word from Disney Parks on when they plan to reopen the Guests, but we will keep you updated as we get more information. For more information on Disney Resort reservation cancellations, you can visit our FAQ article here.

Here at Inside the Magic, we know The Walt Disney Company is doing everything it can to keep its Guests’ and Cast Members’ safety in mind and their number 1 priority during this unfortunate time. We want to remind everyone to please stay home and stay safe. Take all safety precautions and follow the CDC guidelines, including social distancing, remaining six feet apart from others, covering your mouth when sneezing or coughing, wiping down doorknobs and door handles, and washing your hands.
