When the Disney Parks temporarily closed it lead to several different policy changes and cancellation fees being waived, which can be tough to follow along with for some guests. Even with Walt Disney World Resort reopening shortly, and with Disneyland Resort still temporary closed, one frequently asked question regarding upcoming Disney vacations is “How can I get a refund or cancel my Disney Trip?”
Many guests are wondering if the cancellation fee for travel will be waived or if they will be able to get a full refund for their vacation package since they cannot visit the theme parks with travel restrictions in place and safety in mind.

How Can You Get A Refund Or Cancel Your Disney Trip?
Walt Disney World Resort
The official Walt Disney World Resort website states that when the parks reopen, park attendance will be managed through a new park reservation system. To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date are required.
Guests with unused multi-day theme park tickets or tickets with specific dates and a period of use valid from March 12, 2020 through June 6, 2020, with a valid use period beginning March 12, 2020, will be automatically extended for use on any date through September 26, 2021. If you cannot visit Disney World before September 26, 2021 you can apply the value of your unused ticket in the purchase of a ticket for a future date.
Those of you who have purchased tickets for Disney After Hours, Disney Villains After Hours and Disney Early Morning Magic from March 16, 2020 through March 31, 2020 will automatically receive a refund.
In regards to a Disney Resort room reservation or hotel packages, Disney has temporarily paused Disney Resort hotel reservations so they can focus on Guests with existing reservations. Disney Vacation Club members, however, can still make new reservations.
To provide additional flexibility, Disney is waiving Disney-imposed change and cancellation fees up to the date of check-in for reservations with arrivals through October 3, 2020. Guests can reach Disney by utilizing the Disney Reservation Center through the online chat feature or by calling (407) 939-1936.

Disneyland Resort
If you were planning on visiting Disneyland Resort before the parks closed, and have already purchased tickets, you have some options:
- Unused single day tickets and wholly unused multi-day tickets are valid for a future visit through the end of their respective validity period. Check your individual ticket for details.
- If you purchased a promotional Southern California Resident Ticket, the expiration date will be extended through December 16, 2021 with some blockout dates.
- If you purchased a child ticket, the expiration date will be extended through December 16, 2021 and the ticket will expire 13 days after first use or December 16. Whichever comes first.
In regards to if you have a Disney Resort room reservation, Disneyland is waiving Disney-imposed charge and cancellation fees up to the date of check-in for reservations with arrivals through the closure period. Guests can either cancel your reservation online or call 714-520-5050.
