Today marks the first day of Phase 1 reopening for Florida. While many retailers are starting to open today with the provided guidelines the Florida Re-opening Task Force has set in place, one shopping and dining mecca remains closed. The location? Disney Springs.
Guests have been anxiously awaiting news of reopening dates, however, Disney remains mum on specifics.
A delivery sign is visible from E Buena Vista Dr, the main road by Disney Springs. The service parking lot has been seen busy with activity as well, possibly signaling to preparations to get the Walt Disney World destination re-opened soon. This entrance is located next to the Lime garage and the entrance to Valet parking.
Although all parking garages and surface parking lots remain closed and barricaded, the Grapefruit garage signage is now labeled Cast Parking.
This parking garage is across the street from Disney Springs and is where Cast, performers, and service workers are encouraged to park during working hours. However, it is also used by guests along with the other two garages; the Orange garage, and the third parking garage, the Lime garage. All these parking structures offer guests free parking.
The garage is by no means full, but the first level, the only one that is currently open, did have a considerable number of cars parked. We noticed a gentleman arriving in a bike dressed in what appeared to be restaurant attire.
When Disney made the decision to close the Walt Disney World resort, a handful of third-party retailers in Disney Springs remained opened until Florida made the stay-at-home order’s official; which forced those retailers to close their doors temporarily.
In the same way, although Disney has yet to give a re-opening date for the Walt Disney World resort, there is a possibility Disney Springs third party retailers might open soon.
This is a developing story so be sure to keep checking back with us here at Inside the Magic for the most up to date Disney news and magical content.
