And The Walt Disney Company does it once again — Another record in the books.
It’s safe to say that Disney is having a huge year in the box office, and now the records prove it. Disney is having the biggest year of any other studio in box office history!
Thanks to Frozen 2, which has earned $919.7 million worldwide, Disney’s 2019 box office gross total now stands at a whopping $9.997 billion and is expected to pass the $10 billion mark within the next day. When this does happen, it will be the first in history and Disney will hold yet another record.

And what makes this record even crazier is that these numbers for 2019 doesn’t include the box office gross for 20th Century Fox films, which Disney purchased earlier this year.
Including those 20th Century Fox gross numbers, Disney would already push close to the $12 billion mark for the year, and Disney still has the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, opening on December 20th.

The biggest earning film for Disney in 2019 is Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame, which broke records on its own as it became the highest grossing film of all time, bringing in $2.798 billion worldwide. In second place is the live-action The Lion King, which earned $1.656 billion globally.
Captain Marvel, which is Marvel Studios’ other 2019 release, earned $1.130 billion. Pixar’s highly anticipated film, Toy Story 4, came in 4th place earning $1.074 billion. The live-action Aladdin earned $1.051 billion and Frozen 2 is expected to cross $1 billion next weekend.

This also means that not only will Disney become the first studio to have five $1 billion movies in a single year, the studio will also most likely end the year with seven films!
Disney has already broke its own record in 2016 for the highest yearly studio box office total with $7.6 billion.
