Marvel fans, it looks like Hawkeye as we know him is here to stay. Disney has decided not to recast Jeremy Renner in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to a recent report by The Independent — which cites well-known Hollywood “scoopers” –, Disney considered their options in case they came to the decision to replace Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton a.k.a. Hawkeye, one of the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Renner was recently accused of threatening to kill his wife and himself in a recent custody filing.

Renner played Hawkeye in several Avengers films (most recently Infinity War and Endgame), and the Hawkeye Disney+ series is currently in pre-production set to debut in 2021, although we don’t have an exact date yet. Given Renner‘s award nominations in Hollywood as well as his history with the MCU, fans around the world were unsure of whether Disney would decide to recast the role of Hawkeye when there are currently such strong accusations being made against him.

Renner’s now ex-wife Sonni Pacheco is asking courts to provide safe conditions for her and her nanny as the two prepare to give depositions in the custody battle between Pacheco and Renner for their six-year-old daughter. According to court documents, the Marvel actor allegedly stuck a gun in his mouth and threatened to kill himself and their daughter. He also allegedly fired the gun into the ceiling of Renner and Pacheco’s home while their daughter was asleep in her bedroom. Pacheco also claims that Renner left cocaine on a bathroom counter where their daughter could reach it.

Renner denies these accusations from his ex-wife, and he even told TMZ that Pacheco is an “unstable liar.”

The Independent also reports that a representative for Jeremy Renner shared that the actor’s ex-wife’s claims are “one-sided.”

“The well-being of his daughter Ava has always been and continues to be the primary focus for Mr. Renner,” the actor’s representative told The Independent. “This is a matter for the court to decide. It’s important to note the dramatisations made in Ms. Pacheco’s declaration are a one-sided account made with a specific goal in mind.”

Amid these accusations and the custody battle — and as fans have taken to social media to call for Disney to recast the role of Hawkeye — Renner will reportedly keep his Marvel role. So even though some reports stated that Disney was considering replacing Renner in the MCU, it looks like the actor will remain as Hawkeye, and Disney isn’t letting Renner’s personal life affect his professional career at Marvel StudiosKeep in mind, though, that Disney has yet to make a public statement about the matter, although we will update you when we know more.
