Nothing screams “Halloween Time at Disneyland” more than Haunted Mansion Holiday. Every year, Disneyland transforms the beloved and historic Haunted Mansion attraction to give it a happily haunted “Nightmare Before Christmas” theme in honor of Halloween and Christmas. And after experiencing this time and time again, we’re here to tell you that Haunted Mansion Holiday is a must-do for Halloween Time.
The theming is impeccable
Even die-hard fans of the traditional Haunted Mansion attraction can admit that Haunted Mansion Holiday is just as impeccably and thoughtfully themed as Haunted Mansion. There are details everywhere you look throughout the attraction, from the animatronics to the décor to the tiny references to the film that you’ll only find if you look closely. There are some Haunted Mansion enthusiasts out there who aren’t as big of fans of the “Nightmare Before Christmas” version, but you can’t doubt the amazing visuals that can be seen even from the queue.
Just take a look below at a comparison between Haunted Mansion and Haunted Mansion Holiday:
It’s more fun than spooky
Haunted Mansion Holiday is truly more fun than it is spooky. Disneyland is a fantastic place to visit whether or not you’re a Halloween fan, but if you’re someone who gets easily spooked by anything remotely scary, we think that Haunted Mansion Holiday is pretty mild. The upbeat music, fun narration, adorable animatronic versions of Jack Skellington and Sally, and touches of joyful Christmas cheer throughout the attraction make it enjoyable for all ages.
You don’t have to be a “Nightmare Before Christmas” fan
Even though we love “Nightmare Before Christmas,” we know that Tim Burton’s style isn’t every Disney fan‘s cup of tea. But you don’t have to love the film to enjoy Haunted Mansion Holiday! This version of the attraction is magical in its own way, and even though it pays homage to the film, you don’t have to have seen the film in order to love the attraction. Just take a look at this intricately detailed gingerbread house built specifically for this ride! You have to ride Haunted Mansion Holiday in order to see this beauty in person.
