Ever since The View premiered on ABC in 1997, the show has covered some of the day’s most controversial topics. The accomplished women who host the show have always been brutally honest, even when they don’t agree with each other. The women have been from different backgrounds and held different political beliefs, but that has not stopped the show from being one of the most popular morning talk shows for years.
The View is currently hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Ana Navarro, Sara Haines, and Sunny Hostin. These women are some of the most outspoken hosts the show has had, and it has gotten them into some hot water, especially when it comes to their criticism of President Donald Trump.

Since his first time as President, Mr. Trump’s biggest critics on The View have largely been Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar. Even conservative hosts Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin have shared their fair share of unfavorable opinions of Mr. Trump. Griffin even admitted that she voted Democrat for the first time in the 2024 Presidential election.
Mr. Trump has frequently been at odds with Whoopi Goldberg, but now, he has another host in his sights, and things are getting ugly, with Mr. Trump saying the show could get “pulled off air.”

On Tuesday, July 22, Mr. Trump claimed, without evidence, that former President Barack Obama “was trying to lead a coup,” and said that Mr. Obama had committed treason.
This shocking allegation prompted a response not only from the former President, but also led Joy Behar to roast the current president, accusing him of being jealous of former President Obama.
“The thing about him is he’s so jealous of Obama, because Obama is everything that he is not: Trim, smart, handsome, happily married, and can sing Al Green’s song ‘Let’s Stay Together’ better than Al Green. And Trump cannot stand it. It’s driving him crazy.”
She further appeared to insinuate that President Obama was not the person who had committed treason, saying:
“First of all, who tried to overthrow the government on Jan. 6. Who was that again? That was not Obama.”

Behar’s comments reportedly reached Mr. Trump, who was incredibly angry with what she had to say. When asked about what was said, a spokesperson for Mr. Trump told Entertainment Weekly:
“Joy Behar is an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome,” and claimed that the show has “hit the lowest ratings” in recent years.
The statement continued, adding that Behar “should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump’s historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off air.”
Furthermore, Brendan Carr, the head of the Federal Communications Commission, said that ABC and The View could face “consequences” over what was said.
“Look, it’s entirely possible that there’s issues over there. And stepping back, this broader dynamic, once President Trump has exposed these media gatekeepers and smashed this facade, there’s a lot of consequences. I think the consequences of that aren’t quite finished.”

A spokesperson for The View did not comment on the statement from the White House, but did comment on The View’s ratings.
When reached for comment, a View spokesperson did not address Rogers’ statement, but did respond to claims about the show’s ratings, pointing to figures noting that The View “is up in total viewers and women 18-49, versus the comparable weeks last season, to its most-watched in four years” and “season to date, The View is ranking No. 1 in households and total viewers among all network daytime talk shows and news programs for the fifth straight season.”

The View and its co-hosts are not the only notable ACB names that Mr. Trump has had issues with. Last year, Mr. Trump filed a defamation lawsuit against ABC and Good Morning America host George Stephanopoulos. Mr. Stephanopoulos had said that Mr. Trump was “found liable for rape” when he had been found liable for sexual assault. Disney — ABC’s parent company — ended up settling with Mr. Trump for $16 million.
Most recently, veteran ABC journalist and White House correspondent Terry Moran was fired after he sent out a tweet blasting Mr. Trump and his Deputy Chief of Staff, Stephen Miller, calling them “world-class haters.” Mr. Moran took the firing in stride, standing by his comments, calling them “accurate and true.”
