Marvel’s She-Hulk is returning — but not in the way you think.
For many fans, the live-action TV series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022) still feels like a bad dream. While it has its defenders, the show was widely panned. For starters, many criticized the quality of the CG used for the title character, the poor writing, underdeveloped characters (mainly Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk), and the fact that the show just wasn’t funny.
She-Hulk‘s fourth-wall breaks were also a major point of criticism, with many viewers finding them cringeworthy and out of place (yes, we know she does this in the comics).
Other moments that left many fans rolling their eyes in second-hand embarrassment saw Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany) patronizing Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and even “twerking” with American rapper Megan Thee Stallion. You only need to search for these clips on YouTube to get an idea of the overall fanbase reaction at the time.

She-Hulk Controversy
She-Hulk also found itself embroiled in a whirlwind of controversy and backlash, with members of the cast and crew and a portion of the fanbase hurling insults back and forth.
Jokes aimed at alleged “toxic male fans” and “incels” were even forced into the script, a dumbfounding business strategy that echoed the disastrous 2016 Ghostbusters reboot.
We’re not suggesting that such fans didn’t exist, but like the female-led Ghostbusters film, She-Hulk became a property that would likely see you slapped with one of these derogatory labels if you dared criticize it — even if the remarks outlined were fair points of criticism.

Will She-Hulk Season 2 Happen?
Season 2 is unlikely to happen. Tatiana Maslany, who plays Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk in the series, previously revealed in an interview that the crew “blew” their budget on Season 1.
But the most likely reason that it won’t happen is that She-Hulk didn’t land well with audiences, and for many felt like a nail in the coffin for the MCU, which had already suffered major blows by that point (largely on the big screen with box-office flops like Black Widow).
Last year, She-Hulk was even scrubbed from the MCU banner on Disney+ and replaced with Wade Wilson/Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds). But she isn’t just being erased from banners (no pun intended) — she’s nowhere to be seen in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday (2026).
However, fans of the character will be pleased to know that she is returning in a brand-new series from Marvel Comics, which forms part of a much larger storyline.

“Planet She-Hulk”
At the Marvel Comics: Next Big Thing Panel at San Diego Comic-Con (via Marvel.com), the publisher announced that the upcoming “Imperial” storyline will feature five new ongoing series, with the first wave set to include “Planet She-Hulk,” “Nova Centurion,” “Black Panther: Intergalactic,” “Exiles,” and “Imperial Guardians.”
“I’m so excited,” writer Stephanie Phillips said. “Working with [artist] Aaron [Kuder] is so exciting, it’s fantastic. [For “Planet She-Hulk”], think big Game of Thrones. Think things not always related to She-Hulk. She’s ripped into a world that she’s not used to, and she has to bring her own sensibilities to it when she’s now facing witches, rebels, and cannibals… it’s going to be great. We wanted to go big. She’s got a giant sword, PLEASE let us use it.”
Per Marvel.com, here’s the official synopsis for “Planet She-Hulk”:
“She-Hulk is back, and she’s… stuck on Sakaar?? Jennifer Walters made a promise to her cousin, Hulk, to watch over the planet Sakaar and its people for a few days. But it’s been longer than a few days, and now She-Hulk is in charge of keeping the peace on a planet at war! But Jennifer is a VERY different Hulk than the one that once smashed Sakaar into submission…is she up for the task?
“Imperial War” launches in November with “Planet She-Hulk” and “Nova Centurion.”

Per Disney+, here’s the official synopsis for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law:
In Marvel Studios’ “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”, Jennifer Walters — an attorney specializing in superhuman-oriented legal cases — must navigate the complicated life of a single, 30-something who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is currently streaming on Disney+. It stars Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, Jameela Jamil as Mary MacPherran/Titania, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Smart Hulk, Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/Abomination, Benedict Wong as Wong, and Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil.
