In a surprising announcement, the Shrek franchise is moving in a brand-new direction that has never been touched before: cosmetics.

Based on a children’s fairy tale by William Steig, the Shrek series has been unbelievably dominant, grossing over $4 billion at the global box office and becoming an important part of internet culture. This has inspired theme park attractions at Universal Studios, video games, TV shows, and even a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical.
A large part of this is because of the incredible voice cast, which includes Mike Myers (Shrek), Cameron Diaz (Princess Fiona), Eddie Murphy (Donkey), Antonio Banderas (Puss in Boots), John Lithgow (Lord Farquaad), Rupert Everett (Prince Charming), Jennifer Saunders (Fairy Godmother), Julie Andrews (Queen Lillian), and John Cleese (King Harold).

The Shrek franchise is now one of the most popular IPs for DreamWorks and Universal Pictures, spawning plenty of merchandise. This includes the newly announced collaboration with the popular cosmetics brand Lush.
Shrek Teams With Lush For New Cosmetics Line

On March 22, Lush officially announced that clean aesthetic is out and “swamp aesthetic” is in with a brand-new line of products themed around the subversive fairy tale franchise. They began selling these exclusively on their app on March 25, hoping to show that “there is no one way to be beautiful and feel good – wellness can be a swampy ogre bath, too!”
Appropriately called Lush X Shrek, this new crossover features multiple bath bombs and shower accessories, including the Shrek Swamp Bath Bomb, a Shrek limited edition face mask, a Donkey Bath Bomb that smells like waffles, a Gingy Bubble Bar, and the Get Outta My Swamp Shower Slime.

Melody Morton, creative concepts director at Lush, is excited about the collaboration, saying, “I love how Shrek is a family film I enjoyed when I was in my teens, and now my own teenager loves all the meme culture of Shrek today. It’s a classic film that celebrates self-love and was an obvious fit for a Lush collaboration. It’s earthy and fun and perfect for some swampy self-care.”
While this is weird and exciting, there is a catch. Unfortunately, none of these items seem to be available in the United States; instead, they are only available in the UK at this moment. However, it looks like you can turn your bathroom into a swamp on April 9 and April 11 in the US and Canada, respectively.
