A large group of guests were trapped in a classic Disney ride during a spine-chilling malfunction with cast members unable to stop it.
While Disney World is home to four theme parks packed with fun and magic for the whole family, Magic Kingdom is perhaps the most popular one of all — not to disparage Disney’s Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
With iconic rides like Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Peter Pan’s Flight, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as thrilling new attractions like TRON Lightcycle / Run, it’s not hard to see why millions of families visit the Magic Kingdom daily.
Sadly, a large group of guests recently witnessed a chilling malfunction aboard a classic ride, with cast members unable to stop the attraction.

TikTok user @danddisney recently shared a video of most of the animatronics in the Carousel of Progress — an iconic attraction located in Tomorrowland — malfunctioning, with the audio and even the “There’s A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” song, one of the catchiest tunes in the park, distorted, causing a “scary” scene, according to the guest.
While cast members became aware of the malfunction, one theme park employee announced that the ride could not be stopped and that guests would have to wait until the show ended to exit the attraction. Fortunately, the less-than-magical experience was later rewarded.

“All right, folks. Apologies for the technical difficulties on your ride today. Unfortunately, we cannot stop the Carousel of Progress while it is in progress. So, if you will just hang on with us for one more scene, we’ll make sure to get you some Lightning Lane vouchers at the end of your ride. Thank you for your patience, and have a magical day,” a cast member announced over the ride’s speaker system.

According to fans, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress is one of the most neglected rides in Magic Kingdom. While the 1975 ride recently received a refurbishment and modernization, several malfunctions have been reported, including one of the ride’s animatronics losing an arm with the attraction running, shocking parkgoers.
Perhaps one of the most notable incidents at the Tomorrowland classic has been the fact that guests kept trying to break out of the attraction while in motion, causing distress among cast members and other guests.

Walt Disney originally conceived the show as part of a new area at Disneyland Park called Edison Square. When the concept was abandoned, the idea was reimagined, eventually opening under the name “Progressland” at the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair. The attraction made its way to Magic Kingdom Park in 1975.
If you haven’t experienced Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, Disney describes the attraction as follows:
A “Revolution”ary Theatrical Experience
Presented inside a revolving theater, the show includes an innovative audience seating area that moves around a stationary central stage for each act.
