We’re just months away from the release of Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), but rumor has it that the film is yet to undergo reshoots.
The third installment in the Deadpool franchise is a big one, marking Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds)’s first steps into the Marvel Cinematic Universe – not to mention the long-awaited return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine for the first time since Logan (2017).

Considering the recent state of the MCU, there’s also a lot of pressure on Deadpool & Wolverine to, well, be good. Recent releases such as The Marvels (2023) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023) haven’t exactly set the box office alight, while reactions to the studio’s Disney+ offerings are also dwindling, leading some fans to (rather dramatically) dub the upcoming film Marvel’s last hope.
Despite all of the pressure, it seems like the film is still scrambling to reach the finish line. According to recent reports from industry insider Daniel RPK, Deadpool & Wolverine is currently scheduled to undergo reshoots in May – just two months before the film’s theatrical release.

To the film’s credit, it’s said that these reshoots are “small.” However, the fact that they’re so last minute has still put some fans on edge.
If you remember, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania also underwent some equally last-minute reshoots just one month before the film’s release. While you’d think that these would also be relatively small, considering the timing, it later emerged that these reshoots totally changed the film’s ending so that Kang did not escape the Quantum Realm and leave Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) stranded as originally planned, but instead had the film’s antagonist ‘die’ and Scott get out scott-free (pardon the pun).

Of course, with Kang now seemingly scrapped from the MCU, this has ended up being a solid choice. At the time, however, and from a storytelling perspective, the change wasn’t so popular, with some arguing that it totally undermined the threat of Kang and rendered the film lackluster.
If the rumors about Deadpool & Wolverine are true, there are lots of moving pieces – whether that’s Patrick Stewart’s return as Professor X or a potential Taylor Swift cameo as Dazzler – which could very well make even the smallest changes a big deal in the long-run. Whatever changes come with the reshoots of Deadpool & Wolverine (if there are, in fact, any changes), here’s hoping the film meets a more fortunate fate than Quantumania.
