Credit: Inside the MagicCaptain America: Brave New World (2025) is already scheduled for multiple reshoots this year, and it may come at the cost of some highly-anticipated villains.

Captain America: Brave New World is one of the most important films in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only will it be the first film with Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson) taking over for Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), but it is also the first movie after Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), meaning it has to prove that the MCU has staying power without the X-Men.
Needless to say, Disney and Marvel Studios want to get this right, leading to multiple reports that Brave New World is going through extensive reshoots to replace moments that didn’t work. Unfortunately, it looks like this will lead to multiple fan-favorite villains getting cut.
‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Scraps the Serpent Society

Early leaks and reports indicated that the Serpent Society would make its MCU debut in Brave New World. This was eventually confirmed by behind-the-scenes photos. However, it looks like this isn’t the direction Marvel Studios wants to go in.
According to scooper Daniel Richtman, Marvel is intent on removing the Serpent Society from Brave New World and replacing them with different villains entirely. This leak was echoed by another industry insider, CanWeGetSomeToast, who was much more affirmative that the villain team had been cut.

Not much is known about what they were going to do with the snake-themed team, but fans were excited to see two beloved performers break into the MCU. The first is Rosa Salazar, who is most well-known for her performances in Alita: Battle Angel (2019) and The Maze Runner films. The second is WWE Superstar and current World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, whose wife and fellow world champion Becky Lynch met a similar fate in The Eternals (2021).
Still, not all is lost with Brave New World. Two villains are still lined up, including Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunder” Ross (AKA Red Hulk) and Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader from The Incredible Hulk (2008).
