Guests were reportedly evacuated from a popular SUPER NINTENDO WORLD attraction after two vehicles collided mid-ride.
A TikTok shared by user @themeparkmom on January 31 detailed an incident at Universal Studios Hollywood in which two of the ride vehicles on Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge made contact with one another.

The video shows guests evacuating the attraction and walking the length of the dark ride’s track while Universal team members congregate to deal with the issue. It also shows a medical team gathering, assumedly where the two cars made contact.
“So I am just now leaving SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. We were actually just evacuated off of the Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge ride,” the TikToker, Kel, said as an introduction to the evacuation footage. “We were evacuated, like had to take a ladder down out of the ride vehicle, and as we were exiting, we were told by a team member it was because two of the ride vehicles for the first time ever actually crashed into one another.”

She added that as she was exiting, she “did see a medical team helping a bunch of people out of one of the cars as we walked the track to exit, and we think the cars crashed like right before you would have exited the ride. I hope everybody’s okay. I’m sure in the next couple of days we’ll get a lot more news on this, but still, definitely not how I expected today to go.”
Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge opened in January 2023 as a part of Universal Studios Hollywood’s latest expansion, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. Like its predecessor at Universal Studios Japan (where it is known as Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge), the attraction takes guests on a race through Bowser’s Castle in an effort to secure the “Universal Cup.” Riders wear augmented reality visors to simulate the traditional hallmarks of the Mario Kart video game. A third version of the attraction is set to open at Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort in 2025.
