Taylor Swift is easily one of the biggest names on everyone’s lips in recent weeks, but she’s hardly limited to just selling out venues and dropping new albums. Rumors persist that she’s the next biggest superstar to join the ranks of the MCU, and fans like @mr.moviemustknows are racking up evidence that she’s all but confirmed as the newest X-Men.

As pointed out in the video above, Marvel is all but confirming her presence either as a cameo or possibly as a supporting role, and it’s not the first time these rumors have circulated either. Both Ryan Reynolds and Marvel Studios have been teasing and hinting at many helpings of fan service since Deadpool and Wolverine’s announcement, only to urge fans to wait until the film officially drops on July 26, 2024.

When asked about the possibility of Swift joining the cast as the X-Men’s Dazzler, Reynolds told The Vancouver Sun,
“Yeah, I’ve heard that one,” said Reynolds laughing. “I love it (the gossip). I think it is a sign of how eager people are to get a peek behind the curtain in this world. Every single one of these secrets and spoilers will be revealed on July 26.”
Of course, the legion of Swifties that go bananas whenever the pop star posts a new selfie or drops a new album are going to lose their minds if these rumors are true. However, why is Swift being eyed for one of the X-men, and what is her connection to the character?
Taylor Swift Shakes It Off to Save the Day

Given the character’s reputation and appetite for pop culture, Taylor Swift making an appearance as herself in a Deadpool sequel is practically expected given both the singer’s popularity and her friendship with Ryan Reynold’s wife, Blake Lively. But why would the studio want to see her as one of the super-powered members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The biggest piece of damning evidence pointing towards Swift’s MCU debut might be the friendship bracelets poster pointed out in the tweet below from Agents of Fandom.

While the bracelets could be interpreted as yet another example of Deadpool’s antics, along with stuffed unicorns and Golden Girls merch, the use of friendship bracelets might have a stronger connection to the Swifties than any of Wade Wilson’s unhinged whimsy.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, friendship bracelets are a unique element shared and traded amongst hardcore Swift fans with origins in the singer’s Eras Tour. It’s one thing for a pair of bracelets representing the film’s leads to appear on a poster, but that third with the date spelled out in beads bears a resemblance to Dazzler’s color scheme in the Marvel comics.
Just as fans are quick to point out just how ideal Reynolds’ casting was as the Merc with the Mouth, many would be just as quick to pitch Taylor Swift as the glamorous Dazzler in the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine (2024). While some casual viewers might be scratching their heads, those familiar with the comics would agree that the similarities between Alison Blaire and Taylor Swift are quite uncanny.
Is Swift a Dead Ringer for Dazzler?

Alison Blaire/Dazzler is one of the often overlook members of Marvel’s mutants, but comic book aficionados moonlighting as Swifties will be able to point out several connections between her and Taylor Swift as a real life counterpart. Not only do many artistic interpretations of the character bear a striking resemblance to Swift, but her in-universe pop-star-status and her ability to manipulate light and sound waves makes the perfect pedigree for someone who has captured the world with her sold-out shows and (dare we say) dazzling stage presence?

Dazzler is a mutant who moonlights as a successful singer known for her voice and visual effects, as well as dabbling in a wide variety of genres. Pair that with her distinctive mane of strawberry blonde hair, and she begins to take on a more Swift-like appearance with each new rendition.
It’s no secret that Taylor Swift is one of the biggest names in the music industry, and it feels entirely too fitting that Marvel would want to slip her into the MCU to draw a chunk of her enormous fanbase into the fold. While there has been no official statement confirming or denying her presence in the film, the opportunity just feels too good to pass up.
