The MCU’s variant of Kang the Conquerer definitely had a short career, largely thanks to the assault accusations surrounding Johnathan Majors. For someone billed as the next Thanos, it feels like the Kang Dynasty will come to a screeching halt after the reported Secret Wars adaptation.

That all being said, fans might not have to wait until the next Avengers film to see the MCU’s next major villain. In fact, he just made his on-screen debut in the new Guardians of the GalaxyComic readers already know that where the Warlock goes, the Magus is sure to follow.

The recent reports surrounding Johnathan Majors have essentially tanked his career and, more than likely, Kang’s. That’s definitely going to sting for Marvel as the character was incredibly built up from as early as Loki on Disney+, but out of the ashes will rise someone far more devastating than a conqueror outside the sacred timeline.

Picture the ultimate cosmic being who cannot be killed, has an unlimited amount of power, and is considered by many MCU and comic book fans alike to be the ultimate life form. Kang was a powerful being, but even an army of Kangs from multiple timelines could be wiped out by one Warlock or, more accurately, The Magus.

Spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ahead!

Although he’s not inhabited the role very long, Will Poulter assumes the role of Adam Warlock for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He might still be adjusting to the mantel of Marvel’s self-appointed savior of the universe but, like Thanos, his alter ego is inevitable.

The Magus is one of the most devastatingly powerful entities in the cosmos, and he’s already made his MCU debut right under viewers’ noses. Without going into a litany of comic lore, the Magus is an all-powerful and unstable version of Adam Warlock, essentially his evil alter-ego. If Marvel keeps Warlock as a main player for Rocket’s team of Guardians, which they probably will, they will have to face the Magus eventually.

Corrupted by his own cosmic powers, the Magus has all the might, strength, and immortal energies of Adam Warlock, but without his golden boy charms. Vastly superior to Kang more powerful than Thanos, the Magus has the potential to be the biggest threat to the MCU since the Mad Titan himself. Unless Galactus and the Silver Surfer show up between now and then, Marvel has it’s next blockbuster villain waiting in the wings.
